LOZ: Skyward Sword - I'm a Zelda nut
LOZ: Twilight Princess - See above
Halo: Reach - best in the series for my money
Super Mario Galaxy - just bloody good fun
Alice: Madness Returns - the visuals, music and general feel of the game keep me coming back to this very underrated game.

1) Bad Company 2 - the best online gaming experience I've ever had.
2) Skyrim - A game I can still fresh today, a beautiful game
3) Red Dead Redemption - Sucked me in until I completed it. Looked and played fantastically.
4) Half Life 2 - Story telling of the highest order.
5) Forza Horizons - lacks depth, but played and looked amazing.

HL2 is 6th gen since it came out before the 360, PS3 and Wii and was originally ported to the xbox.

I know right? Still looks and plays amazing today on the PC. All that said, episodes one and two are 7th gen, so as a complete unit HL2 is a funny one when it comes to a list like this.

In no particular order

1. Super Mario Galaxy.(Wii) Just when I thought Nintendo had run out of ideas along came this. It brought back the feeling I had when I first played Mario 64. So many ideas here, some used in one level that lesser developers would build a game around. Beautiful looking, with an epic soundtrack, and spot on control. I 100%-ed it (haven't done the Luigi quest though) - a rare thing for me now. SMG2 might be better but I haven't played it yet.

2. Mushihimesama Futari (360) Here's a game that made me eat my words. I had always considered Cave to be elitest - retreating from competition and instead creating a series of over-engineered, endlessly refined shmups for a smaller and smaller hard-core audience. "How many revisions of DoDonPAchi do we need?", I had always thought. This is the best shmup I have ever played. Beautiful, clever rulesets that extend the game so it's lifespan can be counted in years but at the same time are approachable. How Cave has achieved an accessible manic shooter I will never know. Only 5 levels and 1 loop - but it's endlessly replayable in all of its different modes that lay out a skill development path - from Novice to God mode - and a massive challenge. It looks and sounds absolutely beautiful too, and the comprehensive options, for replays, practice modes and display set the benchmark for the genre.

3 Trials HD(360) Proper old school try, try and try again gaming with a simple yet deep control scheme that is such that there is always room for improvement. It's backed up by a brilliantly designed set of levels, lovely visuals and dark, humorous rag doll physics. The mini games round the package out and reveal even more subtleties within the control scheme while providing enough variety to keep you playing. Frighteningly addictive.

4 DJ Hero (Wii,360,PS3) Noone was more surprised then me when I tried this when it dropped from its dizzying £100+ price tag. The rhythm action genre hits its peak here. The controller, graphics, music and ruleset all add up to far more than a sum of its parts. It's excellent tutorial mode makes it highly accessible and eases you into the highly compulsive gameplay - even to someone like me in their late 40s. The DJ v Guitar mode (sadly dropped in no.2) is an excellent bonus mode.

5 Tetris Party Deluxe (Wii) Best console version of the first and best ever puzzle game. Excellent local and online multi-player - and for once - new modes that are highly playable while actually departing significantly from the basic rules. The sheer amount of content and options on offer here, while still delivering a brilliant basic game, force this onto my top 5 list. Will last forever.

If any sequel is worthy of the title of long overdue then HL2 episode 3 or HL3 should be top of the list. Awesome titles that come across as neglected by valve.

Tough one this for me, I really don't like a lot of new games at all, only 3 standout titles for me really from the whole generation.

2) Mario Galaxy 2
3) Deathsmiles

To complete the top five, I'd probably pick 2 from Mushi Futari, Mario Galaxy (not anywhere near as good as 2), Mario Kart Wii, Transformers War for Cybertron (because I love transformers, and it was 'OK', the sequel sucked though), Under Defeat (ace game, probably counts as previous gen) and Resident Evil 5 (getting desperate now, but it was good fun in co-op, and looks like a master piece compared to 6)

I would choose :

Super Mario Galaxy - SMG 1 or 2 will do. Easily the best Super Mario game since Mario 64, and still not bettered. Just a magical game.
Portal 2 - Tough picking this over the original, but this was obviously a bigger game, more depth, and a cool plot.
Forza Motorsport 2 (best of the series, had proper tyre wear and was just magnificent - I still play it online with mates)
Left4Dead 2 - Another game I play obsessively still, years after release online. A true classic, and highly amusing.
Grand Theft Auto V - First GTA game I ever bothered to play through. Will try the others now. Really had a movie quality feel to it.

I only had a Wii and PSP (does that count?)

- Mario Galaxy 1 (yet to play the sequel - sort of holding out as long as i can)
- Sin and Punishment 2
- Skyward Sword
- Wii Sports Resort
- Metal Gear Peace Walker

Saying that my most played are - GTA Vice City Stories, NHL 2007 and Snooker all on PSP.

Whoops, forgot about that one - the first level's dull, dull, dull, but after that it's stupidly good :D

This will change every time I write it but I would say:

Dark Souls - Improved on demons souls in every way
Gears of War 2 - They were all good but this one introduced hoarde mode and was lots of fun in co-op
Bayonetta - Played it through 4 times and I never really liked DMC or the genre in general
XCOM Enemy Within - Another game I've played and played, proper adult gaming
Lost Odyssey - It was a tough choice with xenoblade and last story but this is my favourite RPG of last gen
