While my own list has some rather predictable titles in it, there's some that haven't been mentioned yet.

1. Tetris
2. Pokemon Red/Blue
3. Legend of Zelda : Link's Awakening (original, not the DX version)
4. Radar Mission (short & sweet, but so much fun and so replayable - always ideal for killing a few minutes here & there)
5. Game Boy Camera (What? Did you all forget it's got games built in?)

On a side note, I've noticed quite a few of you listed GBC-only games... (Mario Golf, the Zelda : Oracles games, etc...)
Where logic won't work, I will

I'm amazed that Super Marioland has so many votes. I'm tempted to suggest that many haven't played much of the GB catalogue, because whilst SML had some great content - the lack of challenge (here, have 30 lives) to me at least makes it average.

For example, SML2 is much, much better.
Agreed about Super Mario Land. The second game is just SO SO SO SO much better.
SML2 is woefully easy too.

Super Mario Land is a MUCH better game than Super Mario Land 2. Everything about the first game is better, the second was a real disappointment to me. I still own both and have gone back to them many times over the years but I just don't enjoy 2 anywhere near as much.

1. Parodius
2. Link's Awakening DX
3. Metroid II
4. R-Type DX
5. Tetris DX

And yes, I might as well have the DX versions as they'll still work on the original GB despite including enhancements for the GBC.

1 - Gargoyles Quest

2 - RC Pro Am

3 - Revenge of the Gator

4 - Tetris

5 -The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

These are games that were special to me when I was much younger and the ones I have the best memories of playing on my cherished Gameboy.

Not a huge fan of the Mario series although this is just my personnel preference and I fully understand what masterpieces those game are, I've played many, however these are my top 5.

For me SML2 is a much better game. It's bigger, controls better and looks better. The first game does feel a lot more like the NES original though which is not a bad thing. Both are really good.

Double Dragon is an unbelievably brilliant game. I'm still playing it some 24 years later. Love it!

Better, yes. It suffers the exact same lack of challenge as the first SML though, in fact I'd even say it's easier.

I had that problem with Donkey Kong '94 though...excellent game I thought, but I never ran out of lives and had about 80 lives spare when I completed it.
Sig pic temporarily removed...The Magnificent 7 will ride again 8)

Now it is, sure. But I originally played this as a 6 year old. ;)

1 - Tetris (predictable yes but also correct!)
2 - Super Mario Land 2 (fixed all the faults of the ugly, fiddly, short original)
3 - Mario's Picross
4 - Wario Blast
5 - Kirby's Dream Land
