Since I generally don't like games with numbers or colons in the title, I prefer retro.
Thats not specific to modern titles TBF.
Sonic 1 2 and 3
plus dozens more.

I can listen to Mozart, I can listen to Mr Bungle. Both under the umbrella of 'music' yet vastly different in almost all aspects, yet offering a compellingly different experience. Thus hence such with retro and new games. I love both, but can enjoy they nuances and limitations and different hardware involved and on and on; in particular also, I think if you lived through that time period, if you play, say, a Commodore 64 game you relive some of how you felt back in the days you first played it, and that is a quality of experience that cannot be replicated. So if you keep boiling it down and looking at the infinite perspectives, you could almost say "you cant compare the two"! I personally like playing games of all eras - it doesn't matter because I can appreciate them all.
So I say "both". I like both. I like games. All games.

Both! Whatever takes my fancy at the time. But much like Antiriad said, I find myself playing retro on my Nexus more because I don't want to hog the tv. And while I could naff off and use another tv (the one where my DC is hooked up say) I feel im being anti social then
