Owning games for systems you don't own.

Post by dste » Mon Dec 02, 2013 5:43 pm

I recently bought the new Zelda game for the 3DS and I don't yet own a 3DS.

It's not the first 3DS game I bought as I also own SFIV.

Do you buy games for systems that you don't own and do you intend to buy the system or just own the games anyway?

I once spent quite a bit of money on Zenki FX and Chip Chap Kick for the PC FX, some considerable time before I owned a machine, I did intend always to buy the console, but it took far longer than I anticipated.

Guilty as charged.

Have a few games for the Atari Lynx which i found in a Charity Shop once and couldn't resist them.
Don't have, have never had and probably never will have an AL.

would only do this if i had already made a concious decision to buy the system

when i was younger (about 12 or so), we were in the process of buying an IBM PC (a Pentium 75)

it was planned to buy it with 8MB RAM and i wanted 16MB RAM, but my father wouldn't do this

so i bought The 11th Hour and shown the system requirements to him, so it became 16MB

fun times  :)

I have 5 in 1 Arcade Classics and Road Avenger for the Mega CD. Had no luck trying to find a unit for a bargain price as yet.

I have a couple of Mega CD games too, but you can put the discs in a PC and play them via Gens.

I have Sega Rally for Saturn. I think everyone does, it just seems to grow wherever there's a pile of old games like mould.
I used it to test Saturn emulation.

I do have a CDi game that was 'rescued' from a charity shop.

I've had others, but traded most of them.

I've had a small collection of BBC Micro games since the 80s that I used to play on the computers at school.

Other than that though, no. I'm more likely to have systems that I don't own any games for than the other way around.

Yeah been building a collection of Japanese MD games for a bit, but not seen a console I want to buy yet. I also seem to have 5 Neo Geo CD games as well. One day.

I used to own a substantial number of Atari 5200 games but never got around to buying an S-video modified console. Eventually I sold them off last year.
