The one time you had to admit you got it completely wrong

Post by RodimusPrime » Wed Oct 16, 2013 3:39 pm

The one where you spent time telling anyone who would listen that something was going to be amazing / Rubbish, and you just had to stop at some point and just admit you were hopelessly wrong.

Normally you can bluff your way through it, but sometimes you have to just put your hands up and admit you were wrong.

For me it was with the original Xbox, after telling anyone who would listen about how crap it would be I looked a bit stupid when I played Halo, Rallisport Challenge and PGR, and being shown the hardrive and custom music playlists you could rip from CD, my attempts to keep a poker face was pathetic. Even if my friends had fell for it and thought I was unimpressed, the fact I bought one 2 days later with all 3 games sort of gave it away.

No. I'm always right, especially about gaming.

I once went out on the razzle after taking a whole pack of Lemsips throughout the day, desperately trying to get well enough to go out that night ....... I was completely wrong about that ....... COMPLETELY

The original Playstation. At the time I thought that the Sega/Nintendo duopoly would be almost impossible to break.

A couple of years later I admitted I got it wrong.

I'll hold my hands up and say that when I used to talk to my mates about it, I initially said that the Xbox 360 was going to go the way of the Dreamcast. At the time, there was some amazing stuff coming out for the PS2, Gamecube and original Xbox right at the end of their lifespans (ie Resident Evil 4) and the next gen just didn't look like it offered anything. And for about a year until the big hitters like Gears Of War started coming out, it didn't.

Still, looking back now....shows how wrong I was.

It's not one time but in the space of a few months I told the same mate that Revenge of Shinobi, Desert Strike and Streets of Rage were censored and he shouldn't buy them.

21 years later and he still reminds me now and then.

When the iPad came out I told everyone it was a waste of time, and did nothing you couldn't do on a laptop or a phone... I said it would not catch on and be a flop. In hindsight I was slightly wrong with that prediction.

I Used to sell video recorders in a previous life, and i was convinced that the Philips V2000 system would prevail over VHS n Betamax, so i pushed the format to every customer who wanted a video recorder..... oh how wrong i was .... :(

In 1994 I said the Internet was stupid.

Oh big whoop, your computer can talk to another equally boring computer on the other side of the world...so what?

I believe some people may have found a use for it.

I thought HD DVD would rule over Bluray, the latter just sounded stupid for a start.
