Either Killer Instinct or Street Fighter 2, got fond memories of both in the Metro Centre arcade
Re: What's your favourite arcade game?
Best arcade experience has to be the original Star Wars arcade cab, from the massive screen, 3d graphics, amazing sound and controls, simply nothing like it at the time, this is what arcades will be remembered for and sadly generations of people are missing out on experiences like these having never played any arcade games....
But really too hard to just pick one fav though...

God Almighty, what a question!
Thinking of the faves that get a regular go, includes Donkey Kong, Gyruss, Scramble, Time Pilot, Xevious. But my absolute fave for just sheer gameplay Zen would be Robotron.

Loud shouty games that draw a crowd and give you that genuine-"the volumes up to high" buzz.

Puzzle Bobble. The best 2 player game I've ever played.
Closely followed by (in no particular order):
Warlords
Raiden
Outrun

Blimey, that one was a rarity to find. I only ever saw it in one place, a holiday camp site games room just outside Newquay, Cornwall. Cracking game, though, but I never managed to get past the level with the cars driving back and forth.r0jaws wrote:Quite a few, and most of them are pretty universal but I can whittle it down to a few...
Hammerin' Harry
Right, my favourite arcade game... is Virtua Cop 3. But that's not really very retro, but then again, my next choice, Time Crisis 2, isn't MUCH better.
After that, I'd probably pick Chase HQ.

My comics blog (mostly lesser-known UK stuff from the 80s and 90s)

Splatterhouse. Not the best, or easiest, of games but it always brings a smile to my face when I tumble upon a cab in an arcade.
