Retro Gaming T Shirts?

Post by Mancman » Tue Jun 04, 2013 6:14 pm

My wife asked me today what do i want for father day to which i replied a retro gaming themed t-shirt, to which she frowned and said "really?"

She then got me thinking would i actually wear it and if so, when would i wear it? Come to think of it i don't ever recall seeing anyone wearing retro gaming t-shirts out in public.

Anyway, i'm still getting one and im sure my mates will take the micky, as they dont share in the joys and nowhere near the admiration for retro gaming as i do.

What about you guys? do you wear your retro gaming pieces of fasion with pride?

All the time and the only comments I ever get are "I remember that!" or "Where did you get that, it's so cool!"

I see a few, usually the Atari logo one or Space invaders

I wear my games based T-shirts with pride, from my "BOOM" one (Doom and Evil dead 3 in one) to my 8-bit shooting academy one (I really need more, but the good ones have to be imported via US sites)

TBH im not the most fashionable person in existence

I've got a few Zelda ones but they are mainly for lounging about the house in. I bought a few from this site that have some really creative and humorous designs. They also do a lot of Anime and internet meme stuff:

I asked for orange. It gave me lemon lime!

I mainly wear band t-shirts but when I don't I wear gaming or retro films/TV t-shirts.

Gaming wise I currently own two SFII t-shirts, the character selection one and the group shot.

Primark has had loads in recent years, so most people won't bat an eye should you wear one in public. They're just pop culture things now. If I'm wearing a tshirt there's a heavy chance it'll be either Star Wars or retro games, since they're pretty much all I own (with just a couple of superhero ones). Weirdly, the one that gets most questions is my Oric logo one, most people seem to think its an oil company or something related to that.

My Spectrum bag is the worst offender for strangers stopping and asking where I got it/nostalgic chatting.

I mainly rock retro gaming tshirts, I just got a Streets of Rage printed tee and I recently got a Final Fantasy Cactuar tshirt which I am in love with

I also represent with 2000AD Tshirts - Judge Death Lives!

And I'm married and have a child... but my missus has horses so she puts up with my niche hobby :P

All the game T-Shirts I own are promo freebies including -

A lovely white T with the light blue SEGA logo in the middle
An original Mortal Kombat logo T
A Legend of Zelda Black/Yellow job (has the Tri-Force design on front) and Legend of Zelda written on the back
A Wolverine : The Videogame T with logo on front, really inevitable claw slice marks on the back
A Damnation? T from Codemasters - not sure if this is what it is, Has silouette on a gunslinger type on the front with a rather large gun. Black/White/Grey colour scheme. People always ask what it's for.

The SEGA one gets a fair amount of comments. Most of the others I only wear when lounging at home or under a sweat/jumper etc, etc....

I have a few, and wear them with pride! I don't get stick about it, I have had a few people get all nostalgic when seeing a t shirt! Pac man gets virtually no reaction, maybe sometimes a "Pac man!" exclaimation and that's about it.
The ones I've got the most reaction from are either the Galaga screenshot, or the Spectrum keyboard. :)

Ok, seeing a lot if positive posts here.

Think I've decided on a CPC one that caught my eye. Pretty basic, it has the Amstrad keyboard and monitor on the front.

I just hope that C64 and Speccy retro fanboys don't point and laugh. Flashbacks to my school playground already!
