10. Buck Rogers-Countdown to Doomsday
9. Phantasy Star 4
8. Flashback
7. Revenge of Shinobrot
6. EA Hockey
5. Phantasy Star 3
4. Mega-lo-Mania
3. Road Rash 2
2. Gauntlet 4
1. NBA Jam

Seriously though, bar a few, that list changes almost by the hour. So many great games were available.

And to settle the SF 2 debate..Well that's easy, the PCE version beats both.

heh arrow flash!

i remember it got a bit of a slagging off back in the day (i was put off by reviews), i actually enjoyed it when i finally played it in the noughties through emulation. ended up buying a copy. quite a cutesy game but still fairly cool looking with some lovely parallax backgrounds.also.... i like the chubby transformer spaceship.

megadrive has a lot of good and under appreciated games.

True that, I've thought up around thirty that haven't been mentioned here yet :D

Arrow Flash is a "nice" game, as in, a shooter that's easy so you get to see everything it has even if you're crap at it.
My comics blog (mostly lesser-known UK stuff from the 80s and 90s)

Argh, I'm not good at lists like this. I tend to get to about 5 or 6 things, and then they're all I can remember.

But here we go anyway, in no particular order:

Starflight

Beyond Oasis

Columns (entire series, bloody great puzzle game!)

Sonic Spinball

Phantasy Star series

Gaiares

Hellfire (which I only just found like a day or so ago through the shmup league, but it's bloody amazing so it goes on the list!).

......er.....

yeah, and this is the point where mentally it just starts repeating. There's others, but I'm unable to think of just what they are at the moment.

EDIT: Ah!

Add "Cool Spot" to that list. I'd totally forgotten about that one! Used to spend alot of time with that game as a kid. Very good platformer.

That game, I tell ya, is an example of the RIGHT way to advertise stuff. AKA, advertise it by being awesome, not by spraying jumping ads at me when I click on stuff.

Agh. I never did beat that game. Now I'll end up spending the next week or so trying to do so.

Wow, these top tens are actually quite difficult to compile!

Here's mine: (liable to change at the drop of a hat  )

1> Streets of Rage 2
2> Gunstar Heroes
3> NHLPA '93
4> Zombies Ate My Neighbours
5> Toejam and Earl
6> Another World
7> Road Rash 2
8> Flashback
9> Sonic the Hedgehog 2
10> Cyborg Justice

It's funny, but when compiling lists like these, all objectivity just flies out the window. I know there are hundreds of Megadrive games better than Cyborg Justice and probably scores that are superior to Toejam and Earl, but when I start to think about the games, the amazing memories come flooding back and I just can't ignore the amount of fun we used to have playing them. I mean, there aren't many games that allow you to buzz-saw an opponents hand off and then attach it to your own body, are there? ;)

Here's my list!

10 - Gunstar Heroes - A game that did things with the Mega Drive we never knew were possible.
9 - Streets of Rage 2 - The best brawler ever, and one of the best sequels around.
8 - Sonic 2 - The peak of Sonic games.
7 - Road Rash - Why hasn't there been a sequel in years?
6 - World of Illusion - Never gets the respect it deserves!
5 - Mortal Kombat II - A great port by Probe.
4 - Aladdin - A brilliant example of a Disney movie license.
3 - TMNT: Hyperstone Heist - An interesting mashup of both TMNT Arcade games, with a few extra bits.
2 - Micro Machines 2 - One of the best racers ever!
1 - Magical Flying Hat Turbo Adventure - The only import game I ever played, absolutely loved it.

I couldn't pick ten as I was mainly a SNES player at the time but Mega Bomberman remains my favourite game from the whole series. It had just the right amount of variation without over-complicating everything like most of the games since the original.

Oh and PGA Golf hasn't ever been topped in my opinion. Keep your analogue swing nonsense. Three button presses + epic hole in one = ultra-satisfying gaming.
