Speccy VS C64 VS CPC

Post by 8bitwarrior » Wed May 01, 2013 8:26 pm

Just following on from another thread (the real competition is obviously between the Speccy and the C64) I thought it was pertinent that said poll was created to sort out one of the mysteries of the universe. Of course this is all tongue in cheek and the reality is there's no better computer as each had its own merits and downfalls. Also apologies in advance if this has already been done to death.

So which was better (in your opinion) and why? Feel free to breakdown your arguments (discussions) with full analytical and scientific reasoning....

In order, it goes C64 then Spectrum (though on some days/games that order will reverse). Amstrad doesn't get a mention, its just a wannabe.

Can't we just learn to love all these old machines?

I've gotten as far as the Oric myself, but I'm still struggling a bit with the Aquarius.

I think there's at least one thing we can all (apart from Darren) agree on which is our collective opinion of the Amstrad.

I didn't mind the amstrad...I'm on the opposite side of the world and can admit that...

I voted C64, although I did have them all at various stages. I must admit at the time I didn't give the Amstrad the respect it deserved, because I judged machines by how many games were on the shelves, and amstrad was not covered overly well at the time in NZ. I was not aware until much later exactly how many games there were for it.
I loved my Speccy at the time, and will always be grateful to have had the chance to get a computer within my price range, but once I could afford my C64 there was no looking back. This thing had it all, graphics, sound, and a huge game library to utilise it, quality keyboard (loved text adventures) and a fast loading system!
And Castle Wolfenstein rocks!

Spectrum is KING! the other 2 are tramp, but the CPC is slightly less tramp than the Comode, the comode is Paula Yates fetid ovaries, it really is. People who like the comode have a deficiency in life.

Point of interest: I liked Deatwish 3 on the CPC .... a bit, but not much.
