Still playing and enjoying Beat Down: Fists of Vegeance on the PS2. It's really growing on me and I can see it becoming one of my favourite PS2 games. The semi-free roaming nature reminds me of the Yakuza games in a way just with a lot less to do. Some of the 1-on-1 battles are very hard though in my opinion. Took me ages to beat the crazy assassin bloke with claws on his hands and a habit for chewing on your character's face.

Also still hammering Tekken Dark Resurrection on the PSP. The music in this one is realy growing on me with 'Amnesia' in particular sounding like something that would have easily fitted into Tekken 2's OST. The gameplay and graphics are still amazing me for a handheld and I'm really making an effort to learn some aerial combos and juggling which I previously didn't delve into. I've noticed that the classic 10-hit combos seem harder to slot in as juggling has developed in the series and also feel less relevant.

Playing through Zelda: Link to the Past again for the first time in a few years. I've played it so much in the past that it's one of those games where I can trot from mission to mission from memory, without needing to get instructions from characters. Kinda bugs me, but still awesome.
It's called a MEGADRIVE

TRON: Evolution. A pretty ropey 3rd person action game, it's not fun at all. There was a moment where a club exploded, you leap out the window to a 800ft fall then jump a Lightcylce and start driving down the side of it as it's exploding. That's censored awesome but rare. Most of the time you mash X and hope it does something nice.

Pokemon FireRed: I have this about replaying already finished games, so this was a technicality in that I've only gone
through LeafGreen before and woke up with a major craving for it, et voila.

Kings field IV.

Im sure most people would have given up with this by now.
Some of the enemies are becoming real arseholes to outmanuever. Its not as good as the PS1 Kings Field put its still pretty good.
I asked for orange. It gave me lemon lime!

I'm playing it on 360.

Gotta say, after playing Madness Returns the original is currently coming across as all manner of pishness. I'm thinking it might have been important to play the first game first for maximum benefit. That's definitely what I'm thinking.

Meant to sit down for a Bulletstorm sesh last night but got distracted by Braid, SOR2 and one of those Xona indie games, Decimation X I think, and next thing I know it was midnight.

I've been bitten by the Civilization V bug again. I haven't played it much recently and I'd forgotten how addictive it can be.

Anyway, I finally won a game! Granted, I was only playing on "Prince" difficulty, but this is the first time I have won a game of Civ since the first one.

I played as Rome and concentrated on research, whilst simultaneously building up a decent army. I would have preferred to concentrate on pure research, but if you don't have a big scary army you become the world's whipping boy. Anyway, I raced through to the Apollo Program and started building space ship parts, when I noticed I had some competition from the Persians who actually managed to build a booster before I even got started. Luckily though, they were on the same continent as the raging Aztecs, who declared war on the Persians soon after completing the Manhattan Project (Aztecs with nukes, run for your lives!). If the Aztecs hadn't attacked I don't think I would have won the game, but hey, a win is a win.

I've already started another game, this time on Epic speed and I'm going for a cultural victory.

Stuck on a tricky side-mission in Beatdown. You have to get a bomb to a location within a time limit but even the slightest damage taken in a fight blows it up. The time limit isn't a problem but the fact that the game froze straight after the explosion (on my 3rd attempt) was a problem.

Also tried out Spiderman 3 on the PS2 and...ugh. Choppy as hell and the camera looks too zoomed-out. I loved Spiderman 2 but this looks like more of the same but worse. Somebody tell me that Spiderman 2 wasn't this bad?

Wrapping up the last few bits on Yakuza Of the End now. I've unlocked this games Amon boss fight and am just tying up a few loose ends before taking him on. I'm currently working on the gambling stuff, I've done all the casino games and am now working on stuff like Koi Koi. I also need to catch the last 4 fish level up the last buddy to lvl 20 and mod the last 19 or so weapons and I'm done. Can't be bothered to try Shogi, Mah Jong still confuses the hell out of me, I still suck at Pool and I've hit a brick wall on the last Hostess mission (blasted Mah Jong again!).

I remember that one, pretty sure I gave up on it in the end as its insanely difficult. If you do manage to do it please let me know how you managed it.

The 'new' Medal of Honour for me... I passed this one over because I was a COD geek... until I got the RROD on BOTH of my 360' at the same time (both bought from teh same shop at the same time!).

Got a Phat ps3 last year for pennies and went back to COD - until THAT ended up with the YLOD - hairdryer tricked it and then traded it, along with my Vectrex (sob!) for a slim 160gb...

Really enjoying MOH - a lot more than I would have expected to be honest... I found the gameplay in the older versions to be a bit lacklustre... other than some stupid AI problems (team walking into walls, standing next to enemies etc) it's IMO a pretty solid and enjoyable play...

I have it for the PS2 and the Xbox, and find it slightly better on the Xbox.....but it's not a Halo Beater! It is quite enjoyable though, with a lot of nice touches...and a truly awesome zoom on the sniper scope! It always annoys me when games don't let you zoom right in like this one...

I've always wondered what a sequel would be like to this game though..it had a lot of potential..

I finished my playthrough of Zelda OoT 3D and it was epic. It was an experience that reminded me just why it's so highly regarded among gamers and at the same time why I am so enthused by videogames in general. The gameplay itself is so addictive, the controls were even better than the N64 original. The 3D effect really helped put me into the game, it's a subtle thing but at the same time when taken as an overall experence it enhanced it by quite a lot I think.

Other than that I've been playing Ghostbusters on the 360 and after a bit of a slow start I've really got a feel for it. Good game! Had it on PS3 when it was first released and enjoyed it, 360 version is the same just much better looking.

edit: Forgot to mention I played through Alan Wake on hard this week and it really wasn't very hard at all (and I'm not that good), so gonna try Nightmare mode after I get through the DLC. Best survival horror game out there imo. I hope Remedy give us a sequel.
