Worked on a few games this week clearing my backlog down a little bit more:

Hyper Light Drifter - a nice short action game. Graphically it has a nice unique style, some great boss designs. Short and sweet.

Sundered - another indie, though far longer by the looks of it. Its one of the few examples of procedural generation that doesn't annoy me, as certain parts of the maps are locked in and don't change, and you don't lose anything between runs. Game looks gorgeous and is super fun to play. Love it.

Afrika - A nice relaxed photography game set in... Africa. While it can be a bit of a pain to get a couple of the events to trigger, its just a genuinely nice relaxing game to sit back and play when I don't feel like a tough platformer.

Also got Nioh 2 to get to when I get the chance, but Afrika has grabbed me more than I thought it would, so will probably get that one finished off first (only another 80 odd missions to go!)

Currently:

Eswat and Gynoug on MD Mini.
Doom and Super Mario U Deluxe on Switch.

Will be jumping into Forza Horizon 4 at some point this week.

Hoping to pick up Wreckfest on PS4 soon but, in the meantime, I've dug out Destruction Derby Raw on the PS1. The physics are not great these days but you know what? It's still heaps of fun with some awesome rock/metal/industrial music. I especially love the main menu music that kicks off with "Can anybody stop the mechanical mayhem?"

I absolutely LOVED Destruction Derby 2's music at the time. It's by 2 bands called Jug and Tuscan, who I assume now were small/local UK nu metal bands, but I knew nothing of nu metal or any metal at the time. I'd barely heard anything heavier than Queen. I was just amazed at how bassy, groovy and rumbling the heavy music was. I mean to my current ears it sounds pretty derivative of Korn, but I was amazed at the time.

...bought Rise of the Tomb Raider on 360 after thinking as a big Tomb Raider fan I should play it. Not sure I'm too fussed really. It feels more like Just Cause with Lara taking on all the military bases.

Started yakuza 1 remake. Played the original on release so really is quite fresh again. Funny how it looks how I remember it.

Keep playing Minecraft, seems to be something oddly theraputic about levelling mountains and giving Creepers a good slap.

Did wonder how Doom would fair with a Dance mat, would probably need a PS copy of it to try it though.

All a Dance mat does is replicate the controller

I know that, but effectively you are controlling it with your feet so could make it a challange.

Exactly the same as the Sega Activator then, only more accurate.

You could plug a dance mat into PC with a USB adapter.

Same for Dreamcast, you can run Doom on that and either use a native dance mat, or a PS to DC adapter with a common PS mat. That's the route I took for my DC DDR games, since adapters were useful for other controllers and PS mats were cheap as chips compared to dedicated DC ones at the time.
