I love both games but for me Theme Park just edges it.

With Theme Park I feel far more involved in what is going on, especially when you design your own log flume, roller coaster and tube ride. I can literally sit and play Theme Park for an entire day and not get bored of it.

Never really played sim city but I love theme park. Bought it on the SNES and read in a games mag the money cheat. I spent ages building the perfect park on the biggest lot with every ride and attraction, and then opened it for free and say watching as countless people poured in.

Are we just talking about the original Sim City? If so I'd go for Theme Park as there was more to do and greater depth. That said I never bothered with the various levels in Theme Park, I'd always just make one in England, usually with the money cheat on. SC I played more seriously and would normally try and do it legit

Sim City for me. You get a theme park in that anyway.

Indeed.

My fave game is Sim City 2000. Theres a reason it is in nearly every Top 100 PC games ever made list, because it is just so much fun. And you end up getting totally immersed in the whole "world"

And if you were having a bad day - you could un-leash all sorts of carnage.

Spent most of first year at college bunking off to play this and sleep.

Only ever played Theme Park on a friends Sega CD. And although fun, it just didn't hold the same kind of appeal for me.

them park is kinda limited
in civilisations you get the whole of mankind to mess with
in sim city a whole city

but in theme park just a park yet its also not small enough in the sims you micro manage a whole family of simulated people

theme park is neither big enough nor small enough
its kind fo in the middle
hey wait ! i got a new complaint !

I don't have much time for either. It was all about Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 for me! Still play that. Even my daughter is a fan. :)

Indeed! Best PC game ever made - can't beat that one.

Theme Park was fun back in the day and Sim City 2000 was even better and i play Sim City 4 now and again on the laptop as its a solid, addictive game, but both franchises pail in comparison to the Civilization games particularly Civ III + Conquests which i think is the best PC game ever made as its Far deeper than the 2 franchises mentioned and insanely addictive once you get into it. I also loved Rollercoaster Tycoon 2/3 and still occasionally boot up 3 and have a mess around but it needs a 4th game as there are alot of bugs/glitches with 3.
The square is a great shape, and one that is criminally underused in modern game design. In the push to ever more granular, chaotic environments, games have lost sight of the simple pleasures of right angles and straight lines.

I really liked both, but at a push I'd probably pick Sim City!

I just liked the idea of being able to build everything from housing to roads and railways.

Theme Park was a really fun game though!

I still remember the first one I built - I called it Crappo Land and run it as poorly as I could!!
