Boss Themes

Post by ShadowNeku » Wed Mar 20, 2013 11:21 am

I know we had a thread for video game music not long ago, but i specifically wanna hear some awesome boss music. I've been playing a fair amount of Sonic recently and i forgot how awesome this track is:

Sonic 2 Boss theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzXwutv0yy8

In fact most of the boss themes in the MD Sonic games are badass.
I asked for orange. It gave me lemon lime!

My favourite Bruce Sprinsteen song is Streets of Philidelphia, I didn't know he was involved in Sonic 2 though. Wasn't there a story that Micheal Jackson did some music for Sonic???

The entire sound track is awesome (by Yuzo Koshiro) and I love the SoR boss music. The way it kicks into a funky, thriller type of beat half way through is really nice

Kazuya Mishima / Devil in Tekken 2 :

Very eerie, atmospheric and kinda quiet. What makes it unique is the fact that boss fights (generally) have a sense of urgency, hence why most music has a very fast beat and/or is rather loud. Notable examples are most of the bosses in any King of Fighters game

However, my fave boss music (also from the same game) is -

Middle Boss (Interim Report) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNy33CrKuJc

The final boss battle from the first Ace Combat game on PS1. It's utterly utterly majestic and really feels epic. One of the greatest final boss themes around.

The boss fight theme from Contra 3 on SNES is one of my all time faves........

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4XHxipyj9E

I also really like the boss music from the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOK4ln_MQ0g

And then there's the first boss theme for Mr Nutz on SNES, although that was a game that had excellent music pretty much the entire time.

Ooh, I've got a few here. I tend to like boss themes, they're exciting.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest main boss theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOTI8j1egZg Seriously, this one is amazing.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest final boss theme (remix): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxUoGOzePX0

Mushihimesama Futari final boss theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VnSUHm3Lqw I just call this the "ohshitohshitohshit" theme, because that's generally what's going through my head if I'm playing that game and hearing this song.

Mushihimesama Futari main boss theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOAkkmUywHI

Dodonpachi Daioujou main boss theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYAFtoc2iFI

Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu, Arrange mode "Ketsuipachi" boss theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULQySMjxBoI My car's speakers dont like this one.

ESPGaluda 2 Black Label final boss theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5z5MWT_y40 I'd forgotten how epic this one was. Too bad Black Label is so freaking easy.....

Deathsmiles 2 Final Boss theme, Arrange mode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfqlIg5O4Zs This is the weirdest of them. 20 seconds of hearing it should immediately tell you why.

Deathsmiles 2 Final Boss theme, normal version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cs8X3OZfcWo

Deathsmiles 2 main boss theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXH-o1ojgnA Bloody strange game all around, really. It's Christmas! ......and then you're eaten by spiders, or something.

Persona 3 final boss theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UT2AAfBPtoQ This is one of my favorites.... so freaking epic.

Persona 4 main boss theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7ErlkQIc4A

There we go. There's alot more I can think of, but it'll take forever, so that's good enough for now.

Great choices man :D . I switched a lot of Tag 2's music out for Tekken 2 music and found that Devil's PS1 Arranged music (Be In the Mirror) fits the Winter Palace stage perfectly while I put Interim Report down the minimalistic-looking training stage. I also used Kazuya's awesome Emotionless Passion theme from T2 on the Hall of Judgement stage :) . I have the arcade OST but still really want the 'Strike Fighting' CD releases of the PS1 arranges.

Anyway, my favourite boss theme must easily be Final Fantasy VIII's main boss theme (Force Your Way): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LI-p-h5Hb9o

The boss battle music in R-Type is a real favourite, simple and catchy it makes you realise it's time to start dodging!
