The best 8-bit games?

Post by BlueInGreen » Tue Mar 05, 2013 9:36 pm

Hi

I'm looking to compile a list of what people regard as the "best" 8-bit games. So games for the NES, Atari VCS, Sega SG-1000, Sega Master System, Atari 7800, SNES, Gameboy, etc.

If you could just comment back with a few of your favorites that would be great. I'll make averages from them and use them in a questionnaire for my research.

Thanks guys.

Pointing out that the SNES is a 16-bit console? Yeah I'm just defining 8-bit in my dissertation as the era from the release of Pong to the introduction of CD-ROM based games. It's technically incorrect but hey :P

This is just so I can compile a list to use in a questionnaire for my dissertation. It'll probably be a question like "have you played any of the following games: (list)"

Thanks for the replies so far!

I am not usually a picky guy, but if I were to list my personal favourite 8-Bit games, they would probably mostly be on computer, and CD-ROM games had arrived before the SNES, certainly in my household, on the PC Engine.

I'm the same, if we're talking eight bit, and not arcade, I would have to be heading to the computer software rather than consoles. And I'd love to say PC engine games just from the look of them, but never played one let alone had one :(

I'm thinking Lode Runner and Castle Wolfenstein are my all time faves from eight bit eras
