So just fixed my Nes. What games are good for it?

Post by Grizzly » Sun Feb 03, 2013 7:59 pm

So yeah, pulled out my NES console which i knew had the blinking red light fault, put a game in and it seemed to actually work this time. result! currently i only have Super mario for it which considering my urgency for variety that simply will not be enough.

What can you guys recommend? of course games like Zelda and Kirby are a given, what are the obscure gems? mainly looking for decent platform games.

that blinking red light is actually pretty common so common its easy to fix
you need to replace the zif connector ( which is easy to get a hold off and equally easy to install )

anyway good games for the nes include

batman
batman joker returns
megaman 2
smb 2 and 3
kirby
tetris
nintendo world cup
double dragon 1 and 2
master blaser
monster party ( just because of the random insanity )
castlevania 1 2 and 3
tmnt 1 and 2
and there are probably loads more i have forgotten
hey wait ! i got a new complaint !

I could do with looking through these recommendations myself, however I will still throw in Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers from my tiny pool of NES games.

Bubble Bobble is a great conversion on the NES one of my favourites, Bionic Commando is also worth a look.

If you can get hold of it, I wholeheartedly recommend Mighty Final Fight.

Adventure Island 2
Darkwing Duck
Ducktales
Monster in my Pocket
Asterix
Kid Icarus

But SMB3 and Kirby are far better platformers than all of them.

Disney's stuff on it is surprisingly good.

Duck tales is a good shout. I have it for game boy and it was excellent for that! Cheers for the suggestions so far!

On top of the ones mentioned previously I would recommend Gremlins 2 and Mega Man 4.

Wouldn't forget Duck Tales 2, up there with Megaman 2 in terms of great sequels.

My absolute favourite game on the NES is Solar Jetman. It's the one game that stops me selling the console.

Loads of ace games, with ace variations on arcade classics (eg 1943 with health bar is miles better!)

2 I always recommend are Duck Hunt and Excitebike.
