1. Donkey Kong Country, when I first turned this on, I literally could not believe my eyes, astounding, and it plays superbly too.

2. Pugley's Scavenger hunt An excellent Platformer from Ocean, loads of variety, plenty of humour, and still looks great.

3. Super Castlevania IV Some of the best music on the system, also some of the best designed levels, shame it's a bit on the easy side, but this is one SNES game that would always be in my collection.

You know, for all the platformers on the SNES, very few of them are my favourite SNES games. I prefer stuff like Starfox, Street Fighter 2 and F-Zero. Does stuff like Castlevania and Super Star Wars count?

01-Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble - Better than the previous two DKC games combined (well, the 2nd one has the best music). The map/hub screen's perfect, there's banana birds to be found and it's the only one of these type of games I've enjoyed enough to go beyond 100% completion.

02-Cybernator - Giant mad robot with loads of guns. It's difficult, but you can put bullet holes in the scenery and squash little people under your giant feet. And also fly.

03-MajuuOu - It's a Super Famicom game, but it's always going to be barrell-scraping when it comes to the SNES. Think this one was featured in Retro Gamer recently, it's like Castlevania only you have a gun and can do forward/backward rolls to dodge things. And also turn into monsters.
My comics blog (mostly lesser-known UK stuff from the 80s and 90s)

I'm going to be quite boring and go for:

1) Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest - a superb update over the original, and Diddy is a better character anyway!

2) Donkey Kong Country - phenomenal game with cracking graphics and lots of hidden secrets.

3) Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble - not as good as the first two but some fun ideas in it nonetheless.

I'm just not really a Mario person (some great games but not the best) and can't think of any other's off the top of my head. Honourable mention to Sparkster (pales in comparison to the two on the Megadrive though)
