Back in the day?

In my area we had one called "The Game Zone" which i always used to be in. I bought so many MD, N64 and PS1 games from there back in the day.

What was yours?

Independent shop called Overseal Electrics, bought many a Japanese Megadrive game from there back in the 92-95 period, including a Japanese copy of Moonwalker for about £3 in 1993 at the height of the Jordy Chandler thing :o

Back in the late eighties, early nineties when I was at secondary school, there was only really two in Belfast that I knew of - LeisureWorld and the model shop. Used to get some good amounts of time on games in LeisureWorld especially.

K-soft - run by a man called Ken, a pr1ck of the highest order but was the only shop to do a proper range of games including public domain stuff too (pre-Game). Odd bit of trivia, he turned back up running Covs first CEX but was still a total pr1ck.
Shambles - battered old stall in an small indoor corridor market, run by a great bloke but was always limited by what he had in stock
Our price - overpriced tosh
Woollys - overpriced tosh
Various papershops - best place for those risky £1.99/£2.99 hit or miss titles

There was an independent game shop in Dudley called Computazia that was there from the early 80's to the middle of the 90's. It sold all the popular games on the popular formats of the time. I even had my Commodore 64 and Mega Drive from there. I used to spend a great of time in that shop especially at weekends.

The local WH-Smiths sold games as well as Boots. I spent far more time in Computazia than any of the other stores.

There used to be a shop in Ayr that sold cheap videos/games/toys. It kept moving around the town into various shopping arcades, but consistently stocked loads of cool, rare retro games at a time before I was old enough to have a credit card and buy them on the internet. It's where I got a mint CIB Conker's Bad Fur Day for £20, Sonic Adventure 2 for £5, Pokémon Snap for 50p and, famously, where I traded in the box (without disc) of The Sims for a tenner.

We also had an Electronics Boutique, Beatties, John Menzies and an Our Price, but this shop was the place to go for older stuff.
