PC Zone from around 2000-ish.
Re: Your favourite all time gaming magazine is?
ZZap!, totally.
No, not ZZap64... here we had the magazine ZZap! (partially translated from the english mag) that covered all the 8-bit computers

Old C&VG up to about '88. Edge deserves honorable mention.

Next Generation
And it's not even close for #2 (excluding Retro Gamer, of course).
Next Generation was the first magazine - in the US, at least - that was really, truly serious. The first one with - gasp - long articles, in-depth, technical information and so on. A total breath of fresh air and a magazine that is truly missed.

-Sega Power from late 1994 to early 1996
-Game Zone (pre-split!)
-Sega Pro (not good reading in retrospect, but nicely designed and the A-Z of Sega Games they put out are amazing)
-CVG from 1996 to 1999-ish (the phases where they were doing the High Five scores, and it had Freeplay in the middle)

My comics blog (mostly lesser-known UK stuff from the 80s and 90s)

'The One' (for 16-bit games) was my favourite gaming magazine by a long way back in the day (late 80s-early 90s). Simply brilliant.
Honourable mentions for:
ST Action
ST Format
Zero

Re: Your favourite all time gaming magazine is?
Mean Machines in the 16bit days and Playstation Power in the PS1 days.
Re: Your favourite all time gaming magazine is?
Mean Machines - first two years before the split and went downhill.
CVG 1988-1994 again before it went crap and lost its best writers.
The One Amiga - always had the best games news and coverdisks.
Games-X - long before the www began, a weekly games magazine was a godsend...shame it only lasted a year.

Re: Your favourite all time gaming magazine is?
There'll never be another magazine to match N64 Magazine. I've known this for over ten years. That said, NGamer (circa mid 2006-early 2008) and Nintendo Gamer were worthy successors.
Games TM was outstanding, at first. For me, the rot had begun to set in over five years ago.
