Special Reserve

Post by HalcyonDaze00 » Sat Dec 01, 2012 8:15 am

Who remembers this great mail order company?

I used them loads (mostly for the Amiga), the service was ace and they always had loads of special offers.

Be interesting to see how many of you also used them and if anyone has any info on them.

I wonder if there was a single 90s gaming magazine that didn't have one of the full page adverts? I bought my Playstation from them (still got the receipt for it somewhere) but despite spending many hours browsing the releases, planning on how to spend pocket money or hoping what might turn up for Christmas, I don't think I bought anything else off them

Didn't they go bust in 2003 or something? I don't recall using them often, not in the Amiga days, but I did buy PC parts from them before they went to the wall. They always used to have adverts in the gaming magazines. Don't know much about them though.

They had a shop in Egham that I used to go to back in the mid to late 90's (PS1 / N64 era).
Picked up some great deals in there back in the day.

That's where I picked up my N64 Console Bundle IIRC.

I remember them, I used to get N64 games from them. Can't remember which games exactly but I know Wrestlemania 2000 was one of them.
Pratty's trade list, updated (May 2019)!

They had a shop in Chelmsford that, unfortunately, I never saw the inside of :( They did have some great offers, though.

Bought Choplifter 3 for the SNES from them. I think I got my Lynx off them too. The Batman Returns set. In fact it must have been them because the power adaptor arrived a week before the Lynx did.

I ordered my very first game off the net with them - Sonic Adventure for DC. They sent it in a near A3 jiffy envelope! It arrived intact

Still got my Reddies too!

I've got a Special Reserve folder somewhere in the loft with a few years worth of catalogue-magazines inside.

Great mail-order company, great prices - most of my Amiga stuff came from them.
