Its disappointing to see the official mag go. I stopped reading it decades ago but I used to read it tons in the 90's (I seem to remember the mag being packed with content back in those days...). Then again the only mag I read (bar Retro Gamer) is Gamestm and that's mainly just for the features. Reviews became meaningless to me pretty much the same time when I realised that my tastes were strongly different to most reviewers...

Anyway, in preparation for my copy of Bayonetta 2 arriving this week I picked up a Pro controller as I've never been a big fan of the tablet controller. I'm playing the Bayonetta 2 demo and Donkey Kong TF at the moment with it and for me its so much more comfortable than the game pad. Not to mention the far superior battery life... Oh, and Donkey Kong TF is amazing. Glad I waited until now to play it as I wanted an amazing 2D platformer to play through and this certainly fits the bill...

So, anyone else bar me get Bayonetta today? I got the special edition which usually I don't do since they are almost always censored value but this one costs £10 and comes with the original Bayonetta which I've already sunk 10 hours into over the last day. Can't say that hasn't been worth it! Port wise I believe its slightly prettier and more stable technically. Its also got some entertaining Nintendo themed costumes as extras.
Its still the best action game released last gen (perhaps ever)... I was a bit rusty in the first few chapters but I'm back in the swing of things now and am up to chapter 12. The Pro pad is perfectly suited to the game, it controls like a dream. I'm also glad that even though Sega isn't publishing this version they let Platinum keep in all the Sega references and music. The route 666 level wouldn't be the same without the Afterburner and Outrun music. I've not even touched the sequel yet, I'm too busy enjoying the first one all over again.

My copy arrived yesterday so I had an early go last night. Literally just played for about 15 mins. I can already tell that it's going to be bonkers brilliance and it was a safe bet since I loved the first one.
I also opted for the special double pack. It cost me less than forty quid so it seemed like a bargain.

I ordered it off Amazon but they originaly mislabeled the pack as having both games, so they nicely sent me the special edition for the price of the single edition.

got the First Print Special edition. Quite a nice box in the shape of the book from the games. Played a little of both, great stuff so far. I just really really hope it sells...

So is it only the SE pack that contains both games? I thought that was standard. Is the original game available seperately?

Not really a problem if not as I have a 360 and can pick up the original Bayonetta for that system for a couple of quid, but would be nice to have both for the Wii U.

There are three editions of Bayonetta 2. The first is the standard version of the game and just includes B2. Then you have the special edition which included both games in separate cases. Then there is the first print edition which includes both games and a nice box etc.

The special edition is just £10 more, and its pretty much the definitive port of the game (plus the Nintendo costumes are pretty great, the Bowser arms and legs for the wicked weaves are awesome touches) so I'd recommend getting that version. Its one of the only special editions on a game that seem to be decent value for money (in my opinion).

I've almost finished my first playthrough now. Up to chapter 15 and I remembered why people disliked parts of chapter 14. The Space Harrier homage is great but it just goes on for far too long - should have been half the length. At least the boss battle at the end of the chapter makes up for it!

Pre ordered Bayonetta 2 four months ago, arrived dead on time last thing Tuesday :) Amazon postage is arse since they launched Prime.

Can't wait to try the game this weekend.

I bought a Wii U last week. I’d been humming and hawing about getting one for a while as I actually really like the lineup of games that’s out there for it. Definitely more there that there is for the other systems that interest me at least. Currently there’s not really much on Ps4 or XBone that are really making me want to get the system. Though I will admit that there are some games in the pipeline like Bloodbourne that will probably entice me into getting one or the other eventually.

Aaaaany way…. I spent the majority of the weekend stuck into Super Mario 3D world and Sumer Mario Brothers U (which I got with the system,). A trip into town to buy a new pair of trousers also resulted in me getting Zombie U and the Bayonetta 1&2 pack.

Baynoetta 2 is fantastically over the top it has to be said. I’m about 7 chapters in and enjoying it so far, despite not being particularly good at it in terms of combos and my reaction time is woeful. Stone trophies all round. It’s strange for someone who remembers the 16 bit console wars to see Sega releasing a top tier exclusive title for Nintendo that some are arguing could help with pulling the Wii U up a notch to two.

Looking forward to see what Nintendo pull out of the bag over the next while. I do find the ‘large DS’ style of play quite interesting. Definitely opens up a plethora of new possibilities for some interesting stuff.

So from the Direct;

*Steamworld Heist arriving before 2015 along with a fair few new eShop titles
*Captain Toad has been moved forward to January 2nd.
*Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush is arriving Q3/4 2015.
*Duck Hunt is coming to Wii U Virtual Console
*Every amiibo will be compatible with Hyrule Warriors. Link unlocks spinner Link while the others give you items. Amiibo also unlock outfits for Mario Kart 8.
*Mario Kart 8 x Legend of Zelda will arrive on the 13th November
*Pikmin Animation Videos are purchaseable from the eShop
*Shovel Knight is out...RIGHT NOW.
*Xenoblade Chronicles X is planned to arrive in 2015. Looks pretty huge from the footage.

Ok, the big question - who's buying Amiibos? I'm fairly tempted by a couple, probably get link, zelda and fox to start. They even have cool little carry cases for all your figures. You're never too old, right?

Yup, I'm a sucker for figures so already have the Luigi one preordered (Nintendo's UK Store offered me a free Luigi hat if I preordered), and hoping to nab Pikachu, Mario to go with Luigi, and Pit first.
