I've always thought that Resident Evil 4 was a particularly beautiful game visually. Also Abe's Oddysee is one that springs to mind.

Yeah, even if Abe himself isn't much of a looker.

I loved the bonus bit on original sonic the hedgehog where it morphs from fish to birds, also the sweet/cakes level on Mickey and Donalds game on mega drive where you flick your cape.

The snow levels on donkey knog, the further you progress the heavier the snowfall.

A lot of titles these days have stunning visuals, i think the last one for me was running away from the wave of water in uncharted3.

The first level of Shadow of the Beast looks amazing.
The native jungle levels of Abe's Oddysee are fantastic too.
The 2D section of the Mykonos-styled level of Sonic Unleashed is gorgeous, but over far too quickly.
Early on in HALO where you come out on a cliff over the sea near sunset; that looks dazzling.
The rocky Voltaic age in Myst III - Exile is best of all though.

Obvious choice... Skyrim... the beauty of that game has blown me away, climbing a mountain and being able to look for miles, knowing you can explore it all... the butterfiles... the flowers... the snow.

Defender of the Crown, the first time I saw it on the Amiga... the flickering lamps against the castle walls.

The Christmas Adventure given away free with C&VG, was stunned by how the graphics looked on that...

- The first time you leave the sewer/vault in Oblivion/Fallout 3
- The environments of Mirror's Edge
- The first panoramic view of Rapture as you descend in that biosphere thing
- The Citadel in Mass Effect
- Pretty much all of Shadow of the Colossus!

Shenmue - Everything about it.

In particular -

Shenmue 1 - 'Memories of Distant Days' flashbacks with Ryo and his father practicing outside their family dojo and various other flashback sequences, really made the game that much more beautiful.

Shenmue 2 - The introduction and arrival to Hong Kong, still remains one of the most beautiful spectacles in a game to date. Even more so, when condisering the hardware capabilities.

Ourun (Arcade) opening level. The combination of Blue sky, sand, sea and the music took me away to another place.

Shadow of the Colossus - Galloping around the world on your horse, clambering up the towering colossi...it's just an absolutely breathtaking game.

Mirrors Edge - A beautiful, vibrant world that literally leaps out of the TV set as you run, jump and slide through the levels. It's a game that I absolutely love to pieces :)
