I swear, nothing would make my Christmas more, than sitting down with a hot chocolate and playing Christmas Nights, like I did as a child.

Aww man, I just nostalgia'd hard, and now Im depressed. :|

Never played it as I never owned a Saturn in the day, but I hear the praise for the game (justified or not), so I might check it out or I might just buy a Saturn and the game/s, as I a big fan of the arcade ports on that console which are still in arcades today.

If we were to get xmas nights in a semi original guise then I would imagine it could be a free update at Christmas, they couldn't really charge for it unless they applied to seasonal changes to all of the levels in the game, although if they did that and added more Presents to unlock then I would happily pay for it.

Whats the chances of nagging Sega to release panzer Dragoon Saga now????
Won't happen, not in its original guise anyway. Sega lost the source code years ago. Ditto for House of the Dead 1.
Relatively speaking, House of the Dead would be a doddle to rebuild from scratch. They have plenty of HD engines, all they need is to recreate the art assets (which they'd have to do for an HD remake anyway) and rebuild the paths, attack patterns etc. Since its following a more or less fixed path it doesn't have half the complications of more freeform games.

They could - if they wanted to - reverse engineer an HotD cab and do the same with the PDS discs maybe. I'm not an expert on how these things work though. All I know is that it's mind-boggling how source code at such a huge company was lost!
Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.

That explains why HOTD1 has never had a rerelease while 2 and 3 have.

Not really, since they can easily emulate HotD1.

Will probably pick this up...

Like pretty much all the big 3D games on the saturn it was severely hampered by the console and made playing them a lot less impressive than they should have been.

Now the consoles are so much more powerful it can be interesting to see if the lack of technical faults make the games more fun or if they were just plain poor anyway!

Hopefully this does well and Burning Rangers is next.

This will sell 3 copies and SEGA will make Sonic 5 instead.
And we'll blame everyone for wanting it, asking for it, but not actually buying it.

I love videogaming!

 You know it!

I'm excited to see this game will be receiving the 'HD' makeover treatment and will very likely be purchasing it. That said, the graphics do kinda look like a crappy Wii game it has to be said so that may deter many (non-retro) gamers from buying it.

I was looking over the PS2 rerelease of Nights as the possible version to be updated and that includes christmas nights as an unlockable (after completing the main game.
