When does the PS2 become "retro"?

When PS4 comes out at the absolute minimum.
Who knows, they may have stopped releasing games for it by then!

In about 20 years time. Maybe more. It'll be a while anyway, since even PS1 isn't retro yet.

I'm going to put a date on it. Consoles need 20 years vintage minimum to be considered retro.
Seeing as we're in Europe, 24th November 2020.

I think it needs to be at least 2 generations old (so when PS4 is released) for a start.

It's totally ridiculous to call the PS2 retro right now when new consoles are still being sold and new games are still coming out too.

Fat PS2 console and games released during it was available - Retro

It's twelve years old, hasn't been in the shops for eons and the majority of the CD-ROM based games look pretty ropey now. Half Life or Crazy Taxi anyone?

Also when I mentioned to two 18 year old co-workers that I remembered the launch, they pointed and laughed at me and called me an old man. I'm 24..

Slim PS2 console and games released during it was available - Not retro

Games generally still look OK and a trickle of them are still being released. Plus all that Eyetoy and Singstar censored is deffo not retro for me.
