My poor old speccy was dead and I couldn't afford a spangly new console, let alone the games. Yeah, great year

I had a SNES with Mario Kart and FIFA but to be honest, I was 19 and so booze and fanny were far more important

Re: 1992 - Let's go back
I was playing loads of Zool and also enjoying my first play through Monkey Island (which actually came out the year before, but I was always a bit behind). 1992 was a brilliant gaming year for me, my first full year of owning an Amiga (which made me the subject of a lot of awed glances from my schoolmates who all seemed to have scabby old Master Systems they bought second hand off the local smackheads). My mate got a Megadrive later in the year, so I got to play the like of Sonic as well. I didn't know anyone at school with a SNES, though - for some reason Ninendo never really got a foothold among the kids at our school, which is probably what added to the company's mystique for me (the only time I saw their games was in TV ads or on GamesMaster).

Re: 1992 - Let's go back
Can't remember exactly, but I was probably playing Sonic the Hedgehog. I had traded in my entire NES collection and console for it.
I remember picking up my first issue of Game Zone (after it was split into Nintendo only Game Zone and Sega only Sega Zone) and seeing the review of Super Mario Kart. I didn't even realise there was something called a Super Nintendo! The reviewer said that you pushed L and R to jump and I remember thinking how the hell do you steer then?
I had a really crappy PC XT, but I would go 'round to my friend's place after school. He had this kick ass PC and he was the kind of person who liked to show it off. We would play games like Wolfenstein and that teach yourself brain surgery game (Life & Death The Brain). He was the first person I knew with a sound blaster and cd-rom drive. A lot of the time he would load up a demo and we would just marvel at the VGA graphics and mod music. Then I would have to go home and play Magic Pockets in black and orange CGA with PC speaker music.
Still, I had Sonic the Hedgehog and he didn't!

Think i was still using my C64 and Acorn Electron back then. Didn't get the Amiga until my C64 blew and that was because Currys messed the repairs up four times so we eneded up getting it for free

Re: 1992 - Let's go back
Mostly playing stuff like Battlewheels, Pinball Jam and Joust on my Lynx at school when I should have been revising. Then going home and playing T2: The Arcade Game, Arch Rivals and of course the amazing Streets Of Rage 2 on the Megadrive when I should have been doing homework.

Re: 1992 - Let's go back
I'd been married to Mrs Ant v1.0 for a year, still had the C64 out regularly and my games in the bookcase, bought an Atari ST from the pub and got the kids a Mega Drive for Christmas.
All in all a good gaming year, with lots of Lemmings multiplayer, some Robocod and my first attempts at Sonic 1 and one of the Mickey games.
Shame about '93 where my life fell apart.

Was the Mega drive version the only Lemmings that had that split screen multiplayer mode? I remember playing that a few times with my friends, but they always wanted to play Streets of Rage 2. Re: 1992 - Let's go back
I would love to go back and relive 1992.
Gamesmaster was on - loved rushing back from tea at (boarding) school to get to that in time and then plenty of portable gaming afterwards (no consoles at school).
At home I bought a Master System too, so my love for console gaming was just starting!
