Classic shooter question/poll
Was thinking this the other day - everyone likes a good classic shooter right?
But do you have a preferred direction? Personally don't care as long as it's good...

Not bothered myself in all honesty, as long as the game is good then I'm happy.

Hard one but I had to go with vertical, I often find many horizontal shooters far too hard and thinking of my favourites most of them are vertical too.
Raiden, Zarlor Mercenary, Xenon 2, Fire Shark, Sonic Boom, Mercs, Galaga 90, Robo Aleste, Blazing Lazers . . . .

i have to side with jagfest here,i've posted many times i am rubbish at shooters but i seem to last a lot longer on vertical shooters.i remember wanting the thunderforce games on the MD but knew it would have been a waste of money because i probably wouldn't have ever seen the third level.

How do you class the original arcade 'Star Wars' under?
I would a vote for that type of shooter!

My favourite Thunderforce game is the second one because some of the levels are overhead and I find it much easier.Hitman_HalStep wrote:i have to side with jagfest here,i've posted many times i am rubbish at shooters but i seem to last a lot longer on vertical shooters.i remember wanting the thunderforce games on the MD but knew it would have been a waste of money because i probably wouldn't have ever seen the third level.

How can you Favor either? Too many classics no matter what direction.
Re: Classic shooter question/poll
i voted horizontal, i like all sorts of shooters though.
horizontal shooters tend to have better graphics for some reason, and i'm a total sucker for that.

Re: Classic shooter question/poll
When I think of my favourite shooters they tend to be of the vertical persuasion. Horizontal ones don't do it for me.

What, no "on-rails" Starwing/Panzer Dragoon style option?
They're the only ones I'm only a bit crap at!

Ooh, that's tough. The Cotton games are hori, so I'm inclined to go with that. But verts tend not to make you worry about crashing into scenery, which I bloody hate. Verts tend to be where you get most bullet-hell games, too.
Screw it, horizontal. Sexy Parodius, Deathsmiles, Cotton series, Fantasy Zone, Biohazard Battle...
But like Vy said, it's all good. And those that just can't decide, play Axelay!

And isometric view, too! Princess Clara Daisakusen and Royal Edoma Engine for the win. I'd say Zaxxon too, but I never last long on that game.Liamh1982 wrote:What, no "on-rails" Starwing/Panzer Dragoon style option?
