Is an Xbox worth it alongside a 360 ?

I picked up my 4th xbox at a carboot yesterday. It is fitted with an xecutor mod chip and came with a wireless controller.

unfortunately I think it is a dud. When I switch it on, it comes up with a red led, turns off, then on again with a red led, then off, then on again and flashes red and blue. Anyone know what the problem might be?

I have looked online and there are lots of references to flashing red/green led'sbut not red/blue.

The blue has been added later. Xbox only has red, green & orange.

My LED is red all the time, only after loading a new bios onto my mod chip, I was trying to get rid of the eject/reset bug that evox bios' suffer with.. needless to say it still suffers with it

I'm gonna live with it tho, it's bad enough updating the bios and not knowing whether or not the XBOX will reboot after... but to do it twice... no thanks at least the bios I installed has got rid of the flubber animation and it boots into XBMC a lot quicker now

I've been looking for a modded one, is it easier to just buy one and mod it myself?

You can either go the softmod route, or modchip route... personally I think modchips are best.. you have no problems upgrading the HDD just plonk one in and away you go, with a softmod you have to hotswap them (unplug and plug them in while the power is on) or stick with the bog standard tiny HDD and a softmod just seems a little too fidly for my liking, give me a chip and a soldering iron anyday, I had no problems soldering mine in, time consuming but well worth it.. iirc my chip cost around 15 quid and the xbox cost me 20 quid...

Definately worth owning both. There are such a host of problems with backwards compatability for original Xbox games that you take quite a risk unless you research every purchase. Half of my fave Xbox games dont even work on 360 either.

yeah my xbox1 was pal, but after softmodding i used a program to trick the bios into thinking its ntsc US so it can output 720p for some games and my main UI which is xbmc and unleashx

Get one! I only got an original in 2010 and ive played more on that than the 360. It really is a great console.

Mine has dual boot so if you just 'tap' the on button it starts blue (which means mod is on) whereas if you hold it just a little bit longer it goes red which means mod off.

Simply tap the on button it and see what happens.
