The Hardest thing possible for a Retro Gamer to do.

Post by Jonboy1977 » Fri Mar 23, 2012 1:21 pm

Say something nice about a Console or company you dislike.

After reading a lot of posts in here I can only imagine that most people will not be able to do this in a honest non sarcastic way. Lets see.

I will start.

Atari - Love the Lynx, Great little machine with great versions of Double dragon and Ninja gaiden.

^^^^This. I might have more 'love' for some of their hardware than othersi.e;

Atari:Lynx, A8 range love.ST, Jaguar let me down a bit. SEGA:MD, G.G,+DC love, not so keen on MS, MCD, 32X+Saturn. Sony:PSP, PS1, PS3.Not feeling Vita love, never took to PS2 so much etc....

But disliking a company? even if customer service is poor, i won't dislike as such and hating a console? well don't get on with GB or GBA screen, but hate...no cannot say i hate.

I hate the Halo games, but I did have a very enjoyable match against BoggyB's son at the last retro gaming event in Adershot.

He did VERY well in the Warlords tournament, coming second to his dad. It was a pretty intense final.

If i was 14 years old i would probably slate the Commodore 64 etc but all these years later i just totally appreciate retro gaming and gaming in general. Every machine i think has 'some' plus points, eg the Dragon/Oric all have the odd decent game. Theres consoles i havent tried much before so i love going through their game catalogue finding the games i like the look of.

But i find it embarassing when years later a Speccy bloke refuses to say try a C64 game in an emulator (and vica versa). I just appreciate a lot of retro gaming, i'm no longer 'tied' to the system i had as a kid due to emulation. I still hold very fond memories of every computer/console i had growing up but its been great trying different stuff as well. Think its a shame when 'some' people just refuse to try other machines or even give positive feedback about them

I also have to reluctantly admit that the C64 and Spectrum are good machines. As an Amstrad owner back in the day I would never have been caught dead admitting that.

C=64 - always had a begrudging admiration of its audio capabilities.

3DS - kinda miss not owning the latest Mario Kart game.

CPC6128 - always thought its keyboard looked pretty cool.

Activision - I love your amazing cod series, when can I get my next map pack fix?

Capcom - I love your fighting games. My life will not be complete until I get an extra 15 constumes for each character in street fighter X Tekken, at an additional cost.
