Best modern pinball game

Post by retrojc » Thu Feb 16, 2012 7:02 am

So yes, pinball.

What game/games is the best to get for any of the modern systems? PS2 onwards

Thanks, Josh

Would you count PC games? Because Balls of Steel was great, think that was around 1999-ish. It had a Duke Nukem-themed table!

If you don't, then it'd be Flipnic for the PS2 (insane tables, going upside down and round the bend and everything) or Super Robot Pinball on the Game Boy Color (think Pokemon Pinball but with Gundam stuff).

Williams Pinball Classic's 360 and PSP I was addicted to it.. Basically all Midway tables, they released a water down version for I Phone with one tables tales of the Arabian nights.. The other three pins you have to pay for and which Genius decided to have a leaderboard linked to facebook

There a good one on the Tecmo collection can't think what its called

The Pro Pinball series is pretty good - think they did a compilation on PS2. The PC versions are also on GOG.com

I quite like what I've played of pinball FX on XBLA as well.

Pinball FX 2 on Xbox Live Arcade is fantastic. Plenty of tables to choose from and you just buy the ones you like. Great implementation of high score tables as well, so you can battle it out with any friends that have the game.

I'm hooked on Marvel Pinball on the PS3 right now. I know that it's developed by the same people who have written the Pinball FX series for the 360 and Zen Pinball and I'd rate it probably as my all-time favourite, even above the Pinball Dreams / Fantasies / Illusions series on the Amiga!

I'm not a massive pinball fan,but I absolutely loved Metroid Pinball on the nintendo ds. Terrific game that I cant recommend enough.

I've also recently downloaded Zen Pinball on the 3ds. I've yet to play it but its received decent reviews.

Was it Rare that made Pinbot on the NES? I can remember(in the days when you could get away with it) swapping the price sticker over with something significantly cheaper, the joys of shafting a massive corporation eh :-)

I havent really played much digital pinball but Dragons Fury MD stands out for me. Lots of fun and variation, great visuals and a great soundtrack. I never played the pce version so I dont know which is best to have.

Have to agree with this, if you are looking for something console based with challenge and progression.

But for me you cant ever beat the real thing...
