Favourite/Least favourite game controller?
What is your favourite and/or least favourite game controller?
Personally I love the Gamecube controller, as it it has an incredibly comfortable grip and an innovative button layout. But I do love the Dreamcast controller for the VMUs and other expansions.
I really don't like the Xbox fat controller... it is way too big and the Black and White buttons are positioned in a really horrible area, making them hard to reach. Also I am not a big fan of the old controllers that had numerical keypads.

Re: Favourite/Least favourite game controller?
Fav has to be the Xbox 360, its just evolved into the best controller with the trigger buttons slopping the right way (grr Sony!)
My least fav probably the CD-i's 'remote' controller found on most of their units sold...

This may end in tears...
Favourite - 360. Just feels so comfy, great triggers, great sticks. You could complain about the d pad, but for most games it's perfectly fine, get yourself a Hori stick for fighters and shmups and you're sorted.
Least favourite - N64. Great(ish) console, horrible controller. Feels like it should be a £3 3rd party pad, it's so cheap feeling, and that stick was awful - is it meant to be analogue? then why can I only push it eight ways? Stupidity of the highest order.

Favourite - Saturn model 2, supremely comfortable and responsive, a D-pad almost without parallel, the best shoulder buttons ever and six face buttons, perfect for all those fighters if you can't quite stretch to a stick.
Worst - Master System, too small, too rectangular, D-pad too flat and oddly shaped, buttons way too spongy and it has FOAM inside.

Favourite :

Best controller ever made in every way; great buttons, wonderful pad and the perfect shape too.
Worst :

Can't think of any even slightly redeeming features that this joypad has

Favourite: PlayStation Dualshock3.
Worst: N64 (although the original Xbox controller comes in at a close second).

Favourite: 360 probably, although I like the DualShock 3 as well.
Least favourite: Wiimote & nunchuck.

Re: Favourite/Least favourite game controller?
I'll do a top 5 also.
1)Dual Shock 2.
2)Super Nintendo.
3)Sega Saturn.
4)Classic Controller Pro.
5)Sega Megadrive.
I like the DS mainly due to the proper stick position. The pad itself is a good overall pad but the 360 pad does have better sticks but the positions are all wrong.
The worst pads for me are the Gamecube and the N64. The N64 is not a bad overall pad for the games on the machine, it actually works well but the analogue sticks degrade far too easily. The Gamecube pad is perhaps the worst ever with a pointless right stick, dreadful shoulder buttons and a pointless Z button. No innovation there i'm afraid.

I love the Dualshocks, love the N64 one,the Gamecube one and the Snes pad.
Didn't like the Dreamcast controller, the old rectangle pads of the Nes and master system, but my most hated of recent times has to be......drumroll.....
The Wii Remote, motion control can censored right off. Mario Galaxies and Twilight Princess are great games in spite of the control method, both would work fine on a normal controller. How the censored does flicking the damn thing feel like jumping? It doesn't,so just stick to the button pushes please.
Yeah, the Wii Remote,i'm with Charlie Brown on that one.
I cant stand it,i just cant stand it.

Re: Favourite/Least favourite game controller?
Favourite: It's a tie between the Saturn and the 360. They both put the buttons, thumbsticks, triggers etc. right where you need them to be. I'll have to edge forward on the 360 just because it has analogue controls, but they're both fantastic controllers.
Least favourite: I'll be predictable and say the N64 like everyone else. I don't need to give reasons.

My god yes what were Sega thinking? A completely pointless controller in an age of 8 buttons and 2 sticks!Shiva wrote:

I just remembered the Neo Geo Pocket's clicky mini-joystick so had to go back to edit my list! Oh, and the WaveBird got ditched for the DC Arcade Stick. List now placed in order.
