Colony on the Amstrad, it quotes an edited extract from the monty python parrot sketch about the parrot shuffling of it's mortal coil , brilliant.

You can die in Monkey Island though. If you stay underwater for more than 10 minutes

One of my favs is Prince of Persia on the Amiga - when you fall off a ledge and plummet to your death from a great height! You hear a long AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH! followed by a splat, and then a a rather dodgy bit of music

Fade to Black on the PS1! I used to get myself killed on each level, just to see those (for the time) wonderfully animated death sequences!

Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube - assume it's the same on PS2) - getting your head bloodily hacked off by a sack-hooded chain-saw wielding pyscho! (not retro, but I see it as a spiritual successor to the Barbarian head chop)

man i loved that game and yes i did the same thing, there were so many intreaging and original ways to die - wonderful

There's so many to choose from, but memorable deaths for me would be

Lemmings - Making them blow themselves up

The Immortal - Either slicing or casting a spell on the Goblins, also when the big worm came up through the floor and devoured you

Jet Set Willy - The big foot, very Python like

Sonic - I always found him drowning funny!

Mortal Kombat - Scorpian and Reptile's fatalities

Prince Of Persia - Ooh the spikes!

Cannon Fodder - Shooting the enemy over and over again

I'm sure I'll think of more, but thats the first few that spring to mind...

Techincian Ted on the Speccy was funny. When you lose all your lives, this big character boots Technician Ted and he goes flying into jail.

Dynamite Dan on the Speccy is another funny one. When you lose all your lives, the professor guy zaps Dynamite Dan dead and the professor then looks and grins at you.

gta deaths, either being run ova, punched, kicked (or even both) to death, or just being shot at.

Sonic original - Falls down onto floor and drums his fingers on the floor and if you press start and continue then he gets back up and runs off screen! (btw gotta hate the way loads of companies are ripping this game off for themselves now it's free to use when ninty bought out sega! ='( ).
