Ok, so I was playing some DK Country Returns, and while I was messing with my computer I turned back to my tv and saw Donkey Kong playing a DS.
So what's your favourite character inactivity amination?

Mr. Karoshi when he puts a pair of headphones on and starts bobbing to the music.

Earthworm Jim was great for funny animations.
...May as well post this one, too.

Rincewind in Discworld had a habit of coming up to the screen and tapping it to se if you were still there. He said something too, but i can't remember what it was, for the life of me.

there were loads on the megadrive ,the only one that springs to mind at the moment was donald duck tapping his foot and looking impatient on quackshot.

"i swear the thing is evolving before my eyes,if you see something this big with eight legs heading towards you let me know,i have to kill it before it develops language skills"

yeah, that's it.

Always made me chuckle, for some reason.

The little computer person from Little Computer People would also knock on the screen if you didn't type/press anything for a while. I jumped out of my seat the first time he did it, great sound effect.

Rockford from Boulderdash crossing his arms and tapping his foot. Always used to make me smile!

'Boogerman' (MD / SNES) had a couple of pretty funny ones.

When you think you've got problems you don't really need,
They're maybe not as bad as they seem,
Cos in a world full of misery, with hatred and greed,
Your problems are another man's dream.

IK+ characters pants falling down was an hilarious surprise the first few times it happened.
LCP knocking on the screen was a brilliant touch that added to the little guy's personality.
Flag Man!

Not seen that before!

Noticed earlier today that Kirby in Epic Yarn starts skipping if you leave him long enough.

Conker in Conker's Bad Fur Day. Has a few different ones, including getting out a Gameboy and playing the GB version of Killer Instinct complete with music/sound effects
I also liked Dixie Kong sipping on a carton drink in DKC2: Diddy's Kong Quest for some reason.
Super Mario 64 has some good ones...leave Mario alone for a bit and he'll sit and doze off. Leave him longer and he'll lie down and start snoring. A bit longer still and he'll start talking in his sleep. If you leave him standing still for a bit on an 'ice' level (like Cold Cold Mountain), he'll start shivering and rubbling his hands together.
Sig pic temporarily removed...The Magnificent 7 will ride again

I always liked Rocket Knight Adventures where Sparkster would take off his helmet and say "Let's Go" in a cute lil' speech bubble.

Taz in Tazmania for the Mega Drive had a few amusing animations I think. Shame that the gameplay wasn't as interesting.
Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.
