Final Fight or Streets Of Rage?

Which game did you prefer and why?

Final Fight since it made my jaw drop the first, second, third, etc. time that I saw it at the arcade. Couldn't get enough of it.
Streets of Rage was great for home beat 'em up, but there's no denying it only came to fruition because of Final Fight.
If we are talking home carts only, SoR hands down as Final Fight never really got the treatment it deserved in regards to a home port.

Really? I guess you havn't played the Mega-CD version then?

Final Fight is better than the original SoR but SoR 2 pretty much wipes the floor with just about any other scrolling beat 'em up ever released.

Depends which version of Final Fight - the SNES ports are only 1 player (criminal offence in scrolling beat em up world), whereas the recent PSN/XBLA release was 2 player (local or online, no less). They're not very different, gameplay-wise, so I'd probably go with FF (2-player version) just because it looks prettier IMHO

Despite my sega leanings I would choose final fight, I was just so wowed when I saw it, the characters were huge!

Final Fight.

It defined the style of scrolling beat-em-ups for the whole of the 90s. It looked and sounded amazing. The music, especially, is just fantastic.

SOR 2 has the best soundtrack when it comes down to it though.

I loved Final Fight, but SOR 2 is still amazing and STILL get's played today.

I'm leaning towards Final Fight though. Well, today anyway.

I dunno, have you heard the MegaCD version's music? SoR 2 is rightly praised for its soundtrack, but I think the MegaCD version of Final Fight's soundtrack comes pretty close to that level.

One thing I do prefer in SoR 2 though, is the special moves. Final Fight keeps it fairly realistic, but I prefer flames shooting out of my knuckles.

I played STOR before FF, so mentally I have a bigger fondness and connection with STOR, as that was my first scrolling beat em up. However, I do really enjoy FF and think it is a great game, just more sentimentality for STOR.

My favourite will always be Streets of Rage 1. It has the most atmosphere for me.

I have Final Fight CD and do appreciate the game.

When i played SOR3 i thought it was going to be the best one, but it turned out SOR2 was, but not only that, SOR2 is the best side scrolling beat em up i have ever played.
I honestly cant see what all the fuss is about Final Fight, i have never liked that series much really.

Exactly.Have both on PS3 (Final Fight i bought along with Magic Sword from PSN and SOR 2 on Sega MD Collection) and play both regularly. They compliment each other i find.
