Saints Row 2 is a friggin AWESOME game.

The fact that PS3 owners can get this (and its younger brother) for less than a solo night out on the town is an amazing achievement. Twenty bloody notes!

True, dat.

I downloaded it this morning, been playing it for the last couple of hours. I can already tell it's going to be a lot more enjoyable than GTA4 was, looks lke there's loads of fun side missions to get on with. So far, I've particularly enjoyed pretending to be a policeman for a TV crew, and taking out drunks and litterers with extreme force

I posted about this one in the "What are you playing?" thread - I hadn't realised there was a specific thread for it.

Anyway, it's a huge amount of fun while it lasts. The ending - at least the one I played - was pretty naff, which was a shame, and the characters are pretty unmemorable (with the possible exception of the computer nerd, Kinzie). I made the most of it early on, doing loads of challenges rather than pushing ahead with the plot. The Prof. Genki ones are particularly good fun, and insurance fraud always raised a chuckle.

I've not played an SR game before - I've now had a go at both of the earlier games and have put a few hours into SR2. It's all there, but obviously SR3 has raised the slickness somewhat. SR2 didn't get a particularly good port for the PC but the The Third is a decent effort.

Saints Row 3 was one of the best purchases I made this year. Lots of fun, plus you can do streaking and car surfing. Or both at the same time. Although I do tend to get distracted by just going around mindlessly blowing stuff up with the Mollusk Launcher, but I haven't managed to get the Fart in a Jar yet, but give it time, and it will probably become my new favorite weapon.

Yes i would urge anyone to stay away from the PC release no matter how cheap you find it. No widescreen support and terrible frame rate ruins it completely!

Well, I wouldn't go quite that far - maybe "approach with caution" would be my recommendation. It's worked fine on two different widescreen monitors for me, one at 1440x900 and the other at 1920x1080. As for the framerate, it veers between 30-40FPS. Considering how rudimentary the graphics are, I'd be expecting an easy 60FPS. Also, putting anti-aliasing on seems to make surfaces translucent, so I've had to leave it off though. Nevertheless, I've played it a fair bit because despite the fact that it's a dog's breakfast of a port, it still plays pretty well.

Some of the side missions are tough though. I'm finding it hard to get past Level 4 of the Escort missions, and I do get very annoyed with all the vans that come and block your path, hemming you in. That really gets on my nerves!

Been playing this most of Thursday with two friends, and really enjoying it(I hate GTA games).. After my friend has showed me to play it properly milking respawn points and using the Chopper to beat gangs, and my character is really leveled up.. First game to make me laugh in quite a while jumping over people and punching them as they turn round - and that black Stephen Hawkins guy.. I only played £20 for the Professor Genki edition gotta says its a damn fine game and I probally will get 1000g on it
