Re: Elder Scrolls Skyrim
I'd be very excited if I thought for one moment my PC would run it. I currently have the first four TES games on my PC although for some reason I've started with Oblivion which I'm very much enjoying. Will it be significantly different to Oblivion? Well, visually at least it looks different - everything seems very Nordic in design, like Bruma in Tamriel.

Re: Elder Scrolls Skyrim
I can't wait to get it. I won't buy it straight away (I'll wait for a patch or two to iron out the launch problems) but as my PC should be able to run it well on "high" settings I'll grab it for the PC. Seeing as I spent 260 odd hours on Oblivion I can see me wasting a lot of time on Skyrim.

Re: Elder Scrolls Skyrim
Mines been shipped by Shopto, went for the 360 version. Remember they rebuild the game engine for each game so it won't be overly the same as Oblivion. Apparently it has alot in common with Fallout games with perks and quest structure etc.
I cannot wait for it. Even if it's the same as oblivion with improved graphics and a different world, that's fine by me as I can still play Oblivion for hours on end to this day 6 years on.

Re: Elder Scrolls Skyrim
i hope its more like morrowind, and don't have you hopping across the map from one map marker to the other, a little bit harder and rewarding, which i dont thing oblivion was, that disappointed me no end, still a good game tho
but i will be getting this day 1
are any places doing any particular special editions?

Re: Elder Scrolls Skyrim
Minimum spec:
Dual-core CPU, 2.0 GHz or faster
2 GB RAM
DirectX 9.0c video card with 512 MB RAM
6 GB HDD space
Windows XP/Vista/7 [32 or 64-bit]
Recommended spec:
Quad-core CPU
4 GB RAM
DirectX 9.0c video card with 1 GB RAM - GTX 260/Radeon 4890 or higher
6 GB HDD space
Windows XP/Vista/7, internet access, etc.
Looks like I'm going PC then, I'm surprised how low those min specs are. I can run Crysis on medium, so should be ok. The fact that it'll be nearly £15 a few weeks after launch and 3rd party mods is the reason why I'd rather go PC.

Re: Elder Scrolls Skyrim
My PC loosesly meets the recommended spec, cept I'm about 256MB away from the recommended vRAM and that I have a 8800GTX which is a little weaker than the GTX260/4890.
Will be curious to see how well I can run it, might do some overclocking to compensate.

Re: Elder Scrolls Skyrim
According to Can You Run It, my PC is decent enough to run it at slightly higher than minimum spec. I'm now officially going to buy Skyrim.
Probably not immediately though - I'm reminded of the PC version of Oblivion 5th Anniversary which cost £45 at launch a couple of months ago and now costs £15 in the same shop.

Re: Elder Scrolls Skyrim
Can You Run It is a stupid indication of ability to run a game.
All it takes into account is numbers, nothing technical.

Re: Elder Scrolls Skyrim
Apparently £18 was the PC version's release price. Its a pity they didn't add any new content for it, even a few little bits like armour/weapons would have been nice. On that note I hope the DLC is better than Oblivion's, Knights of the Nine was pants.killbot wrote: Probably not immediately though - I'm reminded of the PC version of Oblivion 5th Anniversary which cost £45 at launch a couple of months ago and now costs £15 in the same shop.
Still, thats the same as my reasoning. I bet 360/PS3 Skyrim will hover at £25 until a year after release.

Re: Elder Scrolls Skyrim
i'd not heard of "can you run it" before, but having just checked it, i pass everything for recommended except RAM.
RAM Recommended: 4 GB
You Have: 3.1 GB

thought "what the balls...?" - and checked my system information, and it does indeed say
Installed memory (RAM): 8.00GB (3.12 GB usable)
wtf?
