I must be in the minority here, I enjoyed IV.... once I got used to the car handling and crappy car camera, so personally I can't wait for the next one, I don't care where it's set as long as it ain't Liberty City, so a return trip to San Andreas would be fine by me

Hey, if it helps break as many PS3s as GTA IV reputedly did then I'm all for it!
It broke mine in 2007, Sony gave me a replacement PS3 to my door two days later.
That's quite an achievement given that the game wasn't released until late April 2008!

 GTA ate my Hamster?

Ohhh, i remember these GTA 4 killed my 360/PS3 stories, it was that and Assassins Creed at the time.Anything that had some rather nice visuals was being blamed as a console killer, too demanding etc, then it was firmware updates, then......

Fact your console died then, more case of was gonna happen sometime...i mean been lot of more demanding games since those 2 on both formats.

My PS3:ground to a halt on Civ.Revolution-Oil on disc, turned out to be excess oil on spindle.

Ground to a halt again on Batman.A.A-Turned out the 250 G HDD i had fitted had damaged sectors.

Niether game caused the issues, just case of hardware playing up when those games were in.

Viva Pinata copped quite a bit of flak for the same thing.

The best one I ever saw was an amazing rant on the official Xbox forum that claimed Cloning Clyde had killed his 360. It was a superb post containing a fully realised Microsoft conspiracy to get people to pay for a new console every third game they downloaded off XBLA. I may have egged the guy on somewhat until he was finally banned.
The worrying thing was, a few people did buy into what he was saying.

Oh I agree it was a coincidence, sill happened though, on topic I've never played GTA IV for more than hour before getting bored, not particularly keen on Saints Row games either.

 Just having a bit of fun Sscot.

Internet used to be full of these Game X killed my console stories..

So your honour, it was that game that done it, i swear, it's a bleedin lie that the fact i had the console shut in a TV cabinet with no airflow going to it and me Skybox sat on top of it, in the middle of summer, with the windows closed.

It was fine till i put that ruddy new game in.

Then there was Yellow light of death on Watchdog-X,Y+Z claiming Sony (boo, hiss!) had sold them a dodgy console, then X+Y admitted they'd tried hacking the console etc.

Crunchy:Every 3rd game and you'd need a new console? wish i'd seen those posts, what did he think, the 360 had some in-built timer or something?, soon as that 3rd game had been downloaded, the sleeper unit in the 360 activated and that was it, 3 Red Rings.....

Now this made me chuckle . . .especially the "egging on" bit . .. who'd dream of doing that?

Reading this thread, its interesting . . . GTA . . amazing . . brilliant . . .now... "oh its a bit rubbish" . . . "not excited" etc etc - have people grown tired of the formula? are we now all cynical? Or do we just enjoying slating something that was actually pretty good?

Me? I didn't get into GTA IV - didn't like the story - however all the others are v good in my opinion . . so, yes, this interests me.

GTA IV was a really censored game.

I got the two expansion packs from someone on here and starting playing the ballad of gay tony, oh god...dull dreary backgrounds, censored characters that never shut up, terrible handling and zero fun. Totally baffles me how Rockstar screwed the pooch after SA (which I messed around in and enjoyed).

Over rated, couldn't really care less about another one

Anyone excited by the game formally known as True Crime: Hong Kong? If it ever gets released?

- GTA III was groundbreaking
- Vice City was terrific, almost perfect
- San Andreas had too much 'empty space' and I hated the theme/protagonist, but it had some great parts (like the casino heist and the Area 51 mission)
- Liberty City Stories was fun, nice to dip in and out of
- I didn't play Vice City Stories of Chinatown Wars
- IV was extremely well made but a had terrible controls, a boring story and it just seemed to lack colour
- The Lost and Damned felt pointless

However, I thought the Ballad of Gay Tony was brilliant, a return to form. It had colour, humour and fun; it was as if Rockstar had seen Saints Row and reacted, having realised their earlier mistakes.

If it wasn't for BoGT I wouldn't give a scheise about GTA V, but thankfully my interest in the series was replenished.

I havent been interested in GTA since San Andreas. I loved Vice City, thought SA looked boring as hell and could have fallen asleep playing GTA IV.
I asked for orange. It gave me lemon lime!
