I was a fan of the first 2 games, but not the newer one.

Hello George!

Oh yes Broken sword is one of my fave games of all time. Iv'e played them all and do prefer the animated templars and smoking mirror versions over the 3d ones.

as George would say "I did'nt think that was such a good idea".

I actually thought Broken Sword 3 (The Sleeping Dragon) was really good right up until the finale; the banter between George and Nico was really nice, especially the stuff about Petra;

"Nico, have you ever considered going blonde?"

"..."

"Shut up, George"

The finale though was an embarrassment  And the fourth game.. dear God  Awful

But the first two are pretty much perfect adventure games. Brilliant voice acting from Rolf Saxon et al, gorgeous music from Barrington Pheloung (Inspector Morse, Lewis), a witty and funny script from Charles Cecil (gaming legend) and co - marvellous games which I have completed dozens of times each (well, the first three)

Charles himself has said in interviews that his biggest regrets are the finales to his games, which is nearly always due to time constraints to meet deadlines, but I think it is frustrating to play such a beautiful and intriguing story only to be shafted in the final scene. He didn't even manage to put it right in his Director's Cut.

Hopefully he will get it right for BS:5, or if the movie happens..

Great games. The first is a classic and I also really enjoyed the second. I've never braved the 3D versions...

Broken Sword 1 is probably my second favourite point and click ever and the ipad / iphone version is subblime. I still prefer Beneath a Steel Sky though, just.

The first Broken Sword is one of my all time favorites. Love the entire series.
I expected to hate the 3D games, so I didn't give them a chance until years later, when I saw a copy of BS 4 on sale for next to nothing.
To my surprise I really loved the game. Then finally I played BS 3 a few months back. Loved it! :D

Only played 1 of them. For the longest time I considered the series a sort of PG-rated version of Gabriel Knight.

All four are available at GoG.com now. I should really return to the third one. Mrs Ant started it but didn't get far.

I've been revisiting the first game's director's cut on the DS again. It just isn't the same without the voice dialogue for some reason.

While I do tend to prefer text over voice in games, Broken Sword & Resident Evil are the exceptions to this - Broken Sword's because it was done so well, and Resident Evil's because it was so bad...

I've recently been enjoying Broken Sword the shadow of the templars on the GBA, but have yet to complete it.
