Funniest game you've ever played

Post by theantmeister » Mon Oct 17, 2011 11:43 am

Or games that made you laugh, if you prefer. Of course the game doesn't have to be intentionally funny!

In my case, though, it definitely was intended. Sam & Max Hit the Road is easily the game that made me laugh the most. The writing is just brilliant, most of the jokes are clever and witty and there's plenty of comedy violence in it too. If you haven't played it, you really need to.
[Sam hangs up the phone]
Max: Another confused census taker?
Sam: Actually, it was the Commissioner with another idiotic and baffling assignment.
Max: Does it involve wanton destruction?
Sam: We can only hope.

I remember loving Duke Nukems antics like going into adult shops and kareoke and his one liners. I think the biggest laugh for me was the end of Tekken 2 when you get to play as animals like kanagroos and dinosaurs, with first person view too! The weirdness of that blew me away. Mario's voice in 64 always makes me chuckle.

I think a lot of violent mega drive games were funny in their B-Movie cheesiness, but I can't think of particulars. Maybe Robocop vs Terminator with the blood splattering everywhere. Desert Strike with its Saddam lookalike. GTA 1 had a lot of laughs.

The Boggit and Bored of the Rings are the two that spring to mind. They seemed to hit the right juvenile note for me at the right time in my life, so it was pretty much spot on, parodying things I already enjoyed.

The Destroy All Humans! games made me laugh out loud a few times, be it convincing the local rednecks that it's not an alien invasion, it's just the Commies, mind reading random passers by ('My mind says Her Majesty The Queen but my body says Prince Philip!' ) or using the telephone boxes to make prank calls. Oh, and radioactive exploding zombie cows. Gotta love those.

Used to find Skool Daze and Bak 2 Skool very funny as well, changing all the character/teacher names to kids I knew and my own teachers at the time, and writing swearwords on the blackboard and then getting bonus points when Einstein the swot got told off for snitching about it

Similarly(ish), Muscle March on the Wii is hilarous.
