Terranimga on the SNES. Similar in terms of movement and combat. Few puzzles but more story based. In fact it is essentially Soul Blazer 3 with Illusion of Time/Gaia being Soul Blazer 2.

Gunple: Gunmans Proof (SNES)

Mad wild west zelda clone with guns and UFO's. A very fun game with some cool bosses. Make sure you grab the translated version of the rom, or get the IPS patch from Aeon Genesis http://agtp.romhack.net/project.php?id=ganpuru

Also, nearly complete is Aeon Genesises translation of Rejoice - Another Aretha Kingdom. Another cool SNES ARPG that never made it to western shores. Not complete yet but very close...

Yep, it's one of my favorite SNES titles. It's not got the puzzles of Zelda but still I play Gunple far more than Zelda.

Great thread! There are tons of games that are similar to LttP. Have you played BS Zelda Ancient Stone Tablets? That's essentially the sequel.

Also Story of Thor had a sequel for the Saturn I believe.

Another great SFC ARPG that has been translated is Alcahest. It's one of my favs

Nobody mentioned Secret Of Mana on the SNES yet?

OK then, I will. :)

Absolutely superb game, even now.

And despite the isometric perspective, Landstalker on the Mega Drive is very Zelda-ish as well.

Secret of Mana 2 has not only a translation and a 3-Player hack!

Forgot about Landstalker which is a great one, also Brain Lord was the last ARPG I was playing, great one for sure.

Also, all the Ys games are pretty awesome and some are more Zelda-like than others.
