Try Wipeout. I was playing that on PS3 the other day and its loaded with pop up.

i just cant think of a ps 1 title where the pop up is so horribly noticable as in daytona usa
youtube is your friend here

the psone games i've played recently - g-police has a very short draw distance, the original wipeout and 2097 too. from memory burning road was daytona-esque for pop up...ridge racer (both the original and 60hz update) has stuff popping in and out. even big hitters like tourismo have a fair share.
i like ridge racer 4 as a game and it uses clever track design and LODs (level of detail models) to good effect. although generally solid star gladiator has some ugly clipping. all of these titles have texture distortion.
but yeah - check any psone game on you tube and you see a host of pop in and low poly moments

edit: destruction derby 2 and porsche challenge....pretty bad pop from memory. good games though if i remember right.
seriously going off topic here, but with daytona people tend to forget you can get up to 20 cars on screen at once....something very few racers have done..... except for.... fzeroX! (back on topic) which also runs at 60 frames a second on n64....

Rainbow Road on Mario Kart 64 is still one of the trippiest moments to have with a video game.

I have to ask, what sort of cable are you using??

you're joking right???
I'm using a scart cable.
Most games from that era are riddled with pop up and there is no question that the N64 deals with it better than other consoles. It's just that N64 games look so drab in comparison. I will have to get hold of an s-video cable to see if my opinion can be swayed.

No-one mentioned the Driver games on the subject of PS1 pop-up. They're amongst the worst culprits of the lot.

Yeah - SCART on PAL N64 = composite. I noticed a cleaner image and brighter colours with s-video. Look out for cheap cables that give you colour bleeding etc which was a problem I experienced. Go to somewhere like Rob Webb's website and get your cable from him - he sells specific PAL N64 s-video cables and they do the job well.Neilos626 wrote:I'm using a scart cable.

Re: S-Video cable on PAL N64, I read somewhere that not all PAL consoles are capable of displaying s-video and it was dropped from later models, I'm after one of the later coloured models but also want to buy one the cables from consolegoods does anyone know if this would work, or am I stuck with composite?
Thanks
Thanks

I thought 1080 and Waved Race looked good, still do!
Re: Is there such a thing as a good looking N64 game?
ridge racer 64 is a pretty looking game, very colourful and chunky compared to the ps1 version (admittedly 5 years later).
