Do you own a system just for a couple of games??

Post by slayer6000 » Mon Jul 25, 2011 2:50 pm

I was just wondering if there are any particular systems which you own, that you dont really like, but you own them as there are a couple of games or so which you really like.
I own an original Xbox, which i really am not a big fan of, but i own it just for Forza Motorsport and the Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. These are the only 2 reasons I have it.
This week i av mostly been playing dreamcast

N64 for the Zelda games. Got a few other carts but not hugely impressed.

Yep.

Amstrad GX4000,
- for Pang but heaven knows why given that better conversions of the game are available on other platforms

Atari Jaguar,
- initially bought just so I could play the best, and original, version of Tempest 2000 but I've since bought several other games I enjoy too

Amiga CD32,
- initially bought to play Sensible Soccer and Speedball 2 using a proper old-school joystick but have bought other games since

Gizmondo,
- bought mainly for Trailblazer but have enjoyed other games too, most notably POD: Point Of Destruction

When I got my first pay packet all those years ago I bought myself a PSone and Grandia. Grandia's a game I was always really curious about. Fortunately, I loved it. I did end up getting more PS1 games in the years after that, but nothing I would have missed otherwise, and being a Sega nut I never really warmed to the console; just got it for Grandia, really.
It's called a MEGADRIVE

I have a 360 which is mostly just for Square Enix games not released on the PS3 or Wii.

And a Wonderswan just for Square games... Although I'm sure I'll look at other games for that system one day.

My cutoff rate is 10 games. I originally got the GC thinking I would fall short of that but I ended up exceeding it by a fair margin. Even though it's not swimming in games like the PS2 was, it ended up my favourite system of last generation.

I would say Dreamcast is the only console of which I only own a handful of games.

Well, not really a 'couple', but 5 or less:

Dreamcast - Shenmue, Shenmue II, Chu Chu Rocket, Jet Set Radio, Skies of Arcadia.
Wii - Sonic Colours, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Skies of Arcadia Legends (and even that one's not technically a Wii game).

That said, I feel the actual games justify the consoles.

I second the GX4000, it's a piece of sh1t. The only thing that's good about it is that it has a direct scart output, i.e. it's the same at both ends so you could use the scart lead from your video to get a better picture - which is good because the RF out of that thing looks SHOCKING.

I have Burnin' Rubber which comes with it, plus Robocop 2.

Can you read Japanese? Ive got FF1 and FF2 and id love to get the rest of Squares titles like Wildcard, Front Mission and Romancing Saga but i obviously wouldnt be able to tell whats going on or what im doing.

And yes, definately do pick up more games for it! Magical Drop, Klonoa and Puyo Puyo 2 in particular are excellent.
I asked for orange. It gave me lemon lime!

I originally bought an N64 (again) just so I could play Goldeneye, I also bought a NES so I could play Gauntlet, (as it never came out on the Snes :(
WANTED: Mario Party 3 on N64 (just the Box only) ANY SNES GAMES, OR EMPTY SNES BOXES, INSTRUCTION MANUALS or WHITE INNER TRAYS.
