Winning an extra credit on an Arcade Machine

Post by space_ace » Wed Jul 13, 2011 8:00 am

Can only remember one instance of this.

A lot of games obviously offer incentives and bonuses to continue the game but I can only remember one machine ever offering an actual credit. The game was "Bomb Jack" - a great game with a superb ZX Spectrum conversion. It was as rare as hell's teeth but once in a very blue moon, an extra credit icon would bounce around the screen. It was the stuff of legend in the arcade I went to - some people I knew didn't believe it but it did exist because Imanaged to collect it myself on a couple of occasions.

I have played virtually every UK avaliable arcade game since 1979 and I don't know any other that offered an actual "credit" and I mean credit, actual equivalent of putting another 20p in the machine. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has seen any instance of this happening on another game. Thanks all

Bomb Jack is the only one I know of.
The spinning, special coin might be rare but it's a complete pain in the arse when you're going for a high score.

Mr Do is another example, if the Diamond appears, and you actually manage to collect it.

Yeah, I believe several Universal machines had this feature.

Wow - never knew that about Mr Do! I played that game a great deal but never saw hide nor hare of the diamond. Thanks for sending a picture of the screen - great stuff.
