Wii shortage... noooooo

Post by Sureshot » Tue Nov 07, 2006 11:07 am

Dear Customer,

Due to a European shortage of the Nintendo Wii Consoles, we regret to inform you that Play.com will be unable to supply your pre-ordered Nintendo Wii at launch. As an Official distributor of Nintendo products we are guaranteed more stock before Christmas, but Nintendo have informed us, along with all other official Nintendo retailers, that the console will not be freely available until next year.

All pre-orders will be fulfilled on a first come, first served basis and we will fulfil your order as soon as we can.

If you no longer wish to keep your pre-order with Play.com please login to your account and remove the item from your Outstanding Orders.

Kind Regards

PLAY.COM

If you could see me now you'd see that I'm doing my sarcastic "big surprise" face.

The question is: did all the retailers over-sell the stock they were getting, or have Nintendo failed to deliver on promises?

I pre-ordered mine from my local GAME store and they sent me a letter yesterday stating that my pre-order was successful and that they will be able to supply me with a Nintendo Wii on launch day. :D

I won't actually believe it until I get it though.

Hard to say.

Nintendo will have issued a preliminary inventory to all of its official retailers, who will likely have sold their pre-orders based upon this. Probably a case of 50-50.
