Sega and Namco's light-gun games are among the best- Time Crisis, Point Blank 1 & 2 (Namco), The House of the Dead 2, Ghost Squad and Gunblade N.Y. (Sega) are firm favourites. Also really enjoyed Die Hard 2 on Die Hard Trilogy.

The worst that comes to mind is Silent Hill: The Arcade- it's amazingly dull- but fortunately that never had a home port. A fitting punishment.

Not wrong about the FMV ones - ever played Chaos Control? You can see all it has to "offer" (!) in half an hour.

I always though that the Time Crisis games were pretty awful - I don't want to play gun games and spend more than hiding than shooting.

The best for me

1.Duck Hunt

2.Op Wolf/Thunderbolt (yeah , I know they're not 'real' gun games)

3.Mad Dog McCree/Space Pirates - so corny they're great!

4.Point Blank

5. House of the Dead 2

6.Rambo (Sega Master System)

Yeah, I spent a lot of my childhood on Point Blank 1, could never get into 2, though 3 is an improvement.

Out of curiosity, whcih version of 2 did you play- PS1 or arcade? Something I only found out a few years ago is that the PS1 version was released first- it was released in 1998 while the arcade game came out in 1999 with some stages replaced with new ones and the Cosmo Gang stage from the PS1 Quest mode showing up if you complete Insane. There's also no loading times (which, as I recall, were pretty bad in the PS1 version).

I've played both versions, yeah the difference is huge, yet the Point Blank 1 conversion is almost perfect.
When playing on Beginner on the arcade, you get some of the stages that only come out on Advanced on the PS1 version. Also the PAL version glitches quite a lot, hmm.

I made a video of the PS1 version of Point Blank 2 a while ago, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwN93ZhER8Q

Agreed especially if you can get the rifle version!

Laser Ghost on the Master System's a good one - defending a girl from the many horrors of a haunted house.

Deadstorm Pirates is a great game, always looking for that in the arcades - how can any home conversion replicate the rocking boat and the spinning wheel?
