Anybody else preordered the new Playstation Vita yet?

I only went into Game to buy Dead Or Alive Paradise (PSP). I don't know what happened but I somehow got talked into putting a £10 deposit on this I only have until november to get the remaining £220 or whatever. I hope it gets delayed to give me a bit more time.

Pre-orders make no sense to me. Every launch for every console ever I've been able to walk into the store and buy it on day 1.

Sometimes you get money off coupons for an early pre order or extra reward points etc. I generally don't preorder consoles unless it's an import release as you can sometimes end up with the console early ie I had my GBA 2 weeks before the Japanese release.

This is the first console preorder I have made since the Dreamcast.

With all the tech I'd consider the machine to be cheap. Like a 3DS, but not naff.

Not always. I remember several people I know, including myself, having problems getting a 360, Dreamcast and Gamecube on launch day. With the Wii for example I was glad I pre-ordered as it was months before they were in the shops due to shortages. Always worth pre-ordering as you never know if there will be a shortage.

Same for games. Back in Christmas 98 Ocarina of Time was like gold dust, actually had a guy come up to me after leaving the game shop I'd just bought my copy from and ask to buy it. Offered me a good £30 more than it cost but was a present from my gran so had to turn him down

They do if you're buying from Japan already, of course, some retailers don't care.

As current gen.PSP owner:Taking a wait and see policy. I'll see what Sony do with support, let any hardware issues get resolved (Dead Pixels, knowing Sony bound to be a firmware update that renders some games unplayable or bricks the machine.. ), waiting for the Vita 5000 slim n lite 3D model...

I'll be getting it on Launch from Argos, we always tend to have quite a few consoles on launch in the stockroom.

the original psp makes me motion sick so before i throw down my money for the vita i first want to see if i need air sickness bags with it or not
