Japan Only recommendations? [UPDATED PIC HEAVY.]
I'm jetting off to Japan tomorrow for a two week holiday, obviously since I'm a huge fan of retro gaming goodness, I wondered if you guys have any recommendations of rare finds I will be able to get in Japan? Or just Japan-only games in general, rare or not, would be good. I'll be going to Nipponbashi (Osaka) and Akihabara (Tokyo) at some point which are good for electronics and I've been told have stores full of old consoles and games.
(I'll also be going to Sega World - it's Sonic the Hedgehogs 20th Birthday so loads of related stuff is going on there too)
Thank you!

Depends what you're into. I'd personally buy a lot of Saturn games, maybe some PC Engine stuff.

I do own a Sega Saturn, not sure about compatability of imported games but will have to see about that.

can you bring me back a pair of womens pants in a ball from one of those back street shady vending machines!!! Im not a perv, I just like the idea of having something I can put on the fire surround as a conversation peice!
Failing that, some cracking photos of your fanatastic trip to Japan to post up here would be good....super jealous I might add! Have fun.

Mandarake! They are pretty certain to have something you like, if you like stuff. Cuz that is what they got lots of.
Big generic recycled goods shop like Hard Off are also good for a visit as you can sometimes find real bargains there. But they are tough for someone just visiting to track down.

Is that a euphemism?speedlolita wrote:Hard Off.
Saturn games are a fair suggestion, as it appeared to be slightly more popular in the land of the rising sun. Also they will take up hardly any room.Person flying to Japan wrote:I do own a Sega Saturn, not sure about compatability of imported games but will have to see about that.
PAL machines can be modded easy enough, I am dextrously inept but manged it fine.
