Magical Flying Hat Turbo Adventure, think that's got a few as well.

And Zaku on the Lynx.

And the little penguins that pop out of the Badniks in many of the Sonic games.

Think it'd be more of a challenge to think of games that DON'T feature penguins.

Apparently Gripshift on the PSP also features them.

So which is the most prolific animal in games: penguins or dogs?

^ I'd think monkeys would be a contender too.

Must be dogs, there are loads of games where they're playable characthers without their other appearances.

I'll wager that there are more games with mice in than there are ones with penguins and dogs... Just off the top of my head I can think of 15-20!

Fair point about mice, and Liamh1982 makes a good point with monkeys, but I think dogs would edge it.

There's a penguin character in Snowboard Kids 2. (There's probably a penguin somewhere in the first Snowboard Kids as well, I just can't remember right now)

Also, if it counts, there's a penguin board in 1080 Snowboarding.

Don't think These have been mentioned:-

In Megaman 3 Gemini man's stage. They hurl giant penguin eggs at you, sacrifcing their young to end your life, that's true dedication.

Lost Odyssey, there's like this Emperor Penguin that you follow on that snowey mountain

Mortal Kombat Trilogy. It's someone's Animality, might be Baraka's I can't remember, but he lays his egg at your feet and blows you up... Again with the baby penguin weapon eggs!
Chazz it up!!!

I discovered today that Toobin' has penguins in the Yukan level. Annoying little sods they are, too.

Pong on the PS1, annoying ones that get in way of the ball.
