Coleco back in the game? With an SMS handheld? Whaaa?

Post by Rayek » Thu Oct 26, 2006 11:31 pm

The link is here...

It's joystiq, so I'm not sure of it's validity... (You know...) But intriguing nonetheless. I was wondering where Coleco's been.

Any thoughts? I mean, I have a GP2X, so I don't have a need for a handheld that gives SMS or even Genesis emulation, but a cool idea anyway.

And all the games come built it? I'd think about it. don't like the look of the 1 and 2 buttons though, shouldn't be slanted like that.

Not a bad list of games with it, be ok if it came out at about 20 quid.

But it's going to be £30 there, so it'll be £40 minimum here.

Looks like mostly game gear rather than SMS too, although that's a largely semantic difference.

Hardware wise the 2 machines are actually all but identical. The GG has a better colour depth, that's about it.

Couple of decent titles on there but a load of filler (to be polite) so definately not worth the money.

The whole things looks like a test release to see how well it does before releasing a follow-up with better games.

Sounds a little silly.

I'm almost sold on it - hopefully it'll do reasonably well, then they'll release a megadrive one :) (or I could just get a GP2X...)

If they lower the price and put it in UK stores, I will take one. True the games are a bit lacking, but think what it would cost you to find all of the games and a SMS and a GG. At £10 to £15 it should do well over here
