Re: Guardian Heroes coming on XBLA
So they've actually got Saturn emulation down then? I thought they only re-released PC versions of Saturn games before because it was too complex a console to emulate.
Regardless of whether or not people like this game in particular, it's good news if Saturn emu for re-releases is finally sorted.

Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.

HD only means 720 or more, the graphics or polygon count don't have to be any better. A lot of these HD remakes look a bit sh*t, I'm not expecting much from resi 4 hd, most likely a cheap cash in, but if they're good games it sure is convenient.
Re: Guardian Heroes coming on XBLA
Will play without filters, those updated graphics look like ass. Never played it, so looking forward to finally trying it at least!

i think they are just remaking the games. But maybe your right maybe they could have cracked it.Megamixer wrote:So they've actually got Saturn emulation down then? I thought they only re-released PC versions of Saturn games before because it was too complex a console to emulate.

Re: Guardian Heroes coming on XBLA
This game has got to be in the top 5 greatest scrolling beat'em ups of all time (IMO
) The RPG elements, mutiple routes and a Versus to put smash bros to shame. Hopefully the filters can be turned off as the graphics are fine as they are. Fingers crossed for XBLA Panzer Dragoon Zwei, Burning Heroes, Daytona USA or Capcom's D&D side scrollers. Anyone know when Radiant Silvergun comes out on XBLA?

I agree, it looks absolutely disgusting. Pity as it was a very good game for its time.C=Style wrote:I thought a similar thing, it definitely looks ugly if those screenshots are anything to go by. You only need to look at the textures to see they've not touched them.Havantgottaclue wrote:Those screenshots look a mess. They aren't new HD graphics - you can see quite clearly that it's the old graphics shoved through one of those smoothing algorithms like Scale 2x. I've used it on Advance MAME and it sounds quite good in theory but it actually ends up looking bad when you've got contrasting colours close together because basically instead of jaggy lines you get slightly smoother but very noticeably wobbly looking lines. It looks pretty shabby and to claim that they are "new" HD graphics is a joke. They would be better off just releasing it with the old graphics than trying to pass off this halfway house as something they've actually put an effort into doing when all they've done is shove the old graphics through an algorithm.

Re: Guardian Heroes coming on XBLA
Yeah I've known about this for months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Glad to see it's finally announced. Not too fussed about the visuals, unless the stupidly forget to allow you to turn off the smoothing filter. All the previous games let you choose, so this should be the same.
Amazing game. I'm going to play it on my saturn right now!!!

Because there are embargos and my silence was bought with a history of Treasure and a making of Radiant SilvergunnDPrinny wrote:Why no mention?Darran@Retro Gamer wrote:Yeah I've known about this for months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Not cryptic hints allowed?
Something like some old Treasured heroes go to HD

Re: Guardian Heroes coming on XBLA
Had Darran actually made mention of it months ago then I wouldn't have wasted £21 on the saturn version that I have hardly played.
Re: Guardian Heroes coming on XBLA
Never played this so quite looking forward to getting a go on it.
Hopefully this will be the firsy of many Saturn games to get released. Wouldn't mind seeing Panzer Dragoon Saga as well

Re: Guardian Heroes coming on XBLA
It's great news that this quality beat em up is getting an XBL release because the game was made for online multiplayer. However, I really wish Treasure would resurrect the frozen spiritual sequel to Radient Silvergun and Ikaruga - Project RS3.
