I had a SNES but think I gave it to my cousin years ago. Was planning to go down the emu route with a modded Xbox, but damn those consoles are sexy. Does anyone know a good place to get US systems, as eBay's are ridiculously over-priced.

I don't think the bay is hugely overpriced, they sell.

PAL ones complete fetch well over £50 for stand alone machines. Good luck getting one really cheap.

America?

Do none of your advertisers stock US systems? Cut a deal, they get a mention in the news/editorial if they give you a good price. May as well make good use of your position ;)

Bought one last week on ebay boxed, no documents, 50 quid, was a bit mucky but cleaned up very nice. Personally I think it looks better than the PAl SNES / super famicom but I do sometimes have odd tastes. Control pad is much better than ours with the concave buttons.

Maybe you should make one of these?

It's an Acer Aspire One Netbook shoehorned into a SNES case. Why so sex?!

I was going to go for a US SNES, but I found someone on ebay selling a modded PAL SNES, 50/60hz and region switches, was around the £60 mark though.....

But it's the best money I have spent this year, I can't believe how much better the PAL games run at 60hz, F-Zero making my eyes water now :D

Have a few US Carts for it now, and I am eagerly waiting the arrival of the JAP version of Yoshi's Island.

Damn that's an illusion shattered.
I always imagined the RG magazine bunker as an aladdin's cave of retro machines where they pretty much had everything to hand. A treasure trove of retro devices with old games stacked high amid a tangle of RF leads and controllers. A bit like the Tardis but with arcade cabs. The sort of place where you could accidentally tread on a Jupiter Ace while you're struggling to stop a twelve foot high tower of spectrum games from toppling over.

And it turns out they don't even have a SNES. :(
