But past games that i've just had to play moment i got in the door include Xcom, Buck Rogers:Countdown To Doomsday (MD).

Only downside often is that once you complete a game that's demanded every thing from you, when you (finally) go off and play something else, it seems 'lacking' compared to what you were playing. If that makes sense...
It does actually. I 'mourned' the end of playing Ocarina of Time.

Maybe Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, I played it through again immediately after finishing it, just to buy all the moves and try them out.

Over a hundred hours each on Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Eighty-odd hours on Just Cause 2. I even rushed to the end of Just Cause 1 to play it. I thought Crackdown would give me another 60hr+ game, but it was pretty brief at 20-odd hours. Still really enjoyable though, and very gripping. I've ordered the sequel without a moment's hesitation.

Got Fable 2 and Mass Effect 1 + 2 to do as well, so I'm in long-term gaming Nirvana for a while.

The World Ends With You – I didn’t think I’d ever get hooked on a JRPG again but I can’t put this down, it’s amazing what a little bit of originality can do, I’m even doing the post game content which I usually ignore.

I don't see it myself. It isn't bad, but I can't do more than an hour or two at a time. I think Supreme Commander is/was the last game I was hooked on, say that as I still play it weekly. So not as much as Total Annihilation, but that has a ten year lead on it!

That was going to be my second answer :D
Its rare that i play a JRPG through to the end these days but i did for this. The best game on DS and the best thing Square have put out since Kingdom Hearts, IMO.
I asked for orange. It gave me lemon lime!

Shining Force CD. Tempted to play through it again at some point and grab the item I didn't know about that unlocks a secret 'fight all the bosses at once' battle after the ending.

When you think you've got problems you don't really need,
They're maybe not as bad as they seem,
Cos in a world full of misery, with hatred and greed,

BC2 on the Xbox - a year in & I still play it constantly - excellent value purchase.

The Championship Manager/Football Manager series were total addiction for me a few years back - I would even think tactics, etc during the day at work & hurry home to try them . .

As mentioned in another thread, for me it's Civilisation Revolution. I bought it January and keep going back to it every week. I'm not usually a massive strategy fan, but this game just has that magic something. It's up there for me with Populous and Sim City :D

I've had this with a few games recently.

Played through Cave Story, Kirby's Epic Yarn and Uncharted 2 this year, couldn't put any of them down once I started them properly.

Currently, I'm pretty much the same with Okamiden on the DS. :)

Torchlight on XBLA for me. Other games get a look in but mostly I'm in a world of Torchlight.

I'm such a hooer for looting games. Scrapped my level 47 chunky warrior bloke on normal difficulty, chucked his uniques and rares in the shared stash, deleted the save and started a Vanquisher ranged weapon character on hard difficulty. I'll be playing this until Dungeon Seige 3 hits the 360 I think.
